Last week I gave a sneak peek to the DIY card catalog drawers that we made for our DIY entertainment center in or living room. Well, today I wanted to share the very simple tutorial for these drawers. You may not have an exact entertainment center like us, but you could make these drawers for any spot in your home. These drawers are so simple, but made a large impact on the entertainment center & I’m a little obsessed with them.

The reason we built these drawers was because I was a little annoyed with clutter & having two shelves under the t.v. There was just something that was bugging me. The other reason for making these DIY card catalog drawers was to hide wires, game controllers & other living room items. I love storage!
For these simple drawers: We cut 4 pieces of plywood to the same size. For the face board we wanted a nicer quality piece of wood so we chose a piece of cedar wood. To hold the drawers together we used wood glue for support and wood screws. We placed support boards that were cut to size in all four corners and attached from the bottom & the sides with wood screws. The drawers are very solid & heavy duty for multi-purpose use. To create the allusion of two drawers in one, we used the table saw to create the indented line down the drawer front {later on I stained the cut to create the dark allusion}

Next I attached the hardware that I purchased from D. Lawless hardware online {here}. I am a little obsessed with these drawer pulls & I’m happy with how they look on the drawers. To attach we simply measured to the center of the drawers & drilled two holes. After that we put the screw through the holes & tightened with a nut & bolt.
& for the labels in the drawers I cut pieces of paper to size & used my rubber stamps purchased at Michaels for the words. The line that we cut down the center of the drawers is stained the exact color of the entertainment center {special walnut by minwax} The drawers are painted filtered shade by valspar { a very light shade of gray}

Above is what the TV console looked like a few months ago. & below is the TV console today. {check out all the changes!} I think the drawers is one of the biggest changes & one of my favorite changes of all.
