I love coffee. It’s no secret, & if we are going to be best friends you need to know that. If we are at my house I will make coffee in my french press or brew a single cup with my keurig. I’m also obsessed with tea. Every kind. With honey. Since coffee & tea are a part of my everyday life, I wanted to create a small special coffee station in our kitchen. I first wanted to create a DIY rustic wood tray to keep everything neat on the counter. It had to be quite large to hold the coffee maker & coffee supplies so I recruited my amazing hubby & we got to work on our DIY Tray…

For this tray we purchased 8 foot 3×1’s. You can select the boards you want to use or you can use pallet wood. Anything will do! Since we wanted a large tray { We made ours 28″x16″} we lined 6 boards up for the bottom of the tray. We cut the 6 boards for the bottom of the tray down to the size we wanted. We then cut two boards to the same size for the two long sides of the tray & cut two more boards for the shorter sides of the tray to the size we wanted.

After we had all our boards cut and lined up, we screwed all of the sides together as shown above. We then started screwing the bottom boards down onto the side boards. We used 1 1/4 inch screws so that they would not be exposed or pop through.

After all the bottom boards were screwed on we flipped the tray over & gave it a few coats of white paint. After that we waxed it with a mix of dark and clear wax for a worn look & added drawer pulls to both sides for handles. Simple DIY rustic wood tray complete.
