I posted a little sneak peek a few weeks ago of this DIY fabric garland that I made for our front guest bedroom on Instagram. I really wanted to freshen this space up & I think that some DIY fabric garland really added a fun & whimsical focal point in the room. It was my first time making fabric garland & let me tell you it was super easy & anyone could do it, so don’t be intimidated!

I got all of my fabric from walmart. This was kind of a last minute decision to do this DIY & I wanted some quick samples of fabric. You can use fabric scraps or any that you have lying around the house. Cut your fabric into about two inch strips. My strips were very rough and I was ok with that. I used yarn to attach my fabric too. If you are making a long garland like I did, I would use something more sturdy than yarn, like a fabric strip. I tied the yarn between two chairs to keep the yarn taught. To attach the fabric strips to the yarn you first hang the fabric in front of the yarn as pictured, then pull the two hanging strands of fabric around the back of the yarn and pull through the loop. Pull the ends tight & voila you have successfully hung one fabric strand on your garland. Boom! No repeat this a million times. Or as many as you want. It honestly doesn’t take that long once you get on a roll. To hang my garland I hung two eyehole screws on the wall & strung the yarn through the eyehole so that it would be easy to hang and take down off the wall.
