Happy Cozy Friday guys!! I promised to start talking more about my book and the process of writing it, who is in it, & all things to do with the book. I kept it a secret for over a year so now it’s time to chat with you all about it! I want to first start out by saying thank you SO MUCH for pre-ordering the book as it means a lot to the books success and is making this whole book launch really exciting for me & my little fam.. thank you for being a huge part of that! How did the book come about?

This was the most asked question for sure so far. The publisher found me through a blog post I wrote as they were searching Pinterest for the perfect white paint color. I did not seek this opportunity… I would never have done that especially last year. I would have never felt ready to write a book. Last year our house didn’t even have flooring, nothing is still finished this year in our home, & I’m forever the girl who is just unsure of herself… but I was encouraged by my amazing husband to say yes & here we are. I’m so thankful that the publisher & others believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself. After completing this book & feeling so happy about it.. I hope my experience teaches you that there is never a perfect time to do the things… take the leap & just do it! Allow your dreams to come true. This book was written during one of the hardest years of my life. My anxiety, depression, & darkness took over most of my year & this book was written through that season when I needed cozy the most. We lost our 9th child & so many things piled on top of us as I turned 30 & this book was written through all of that. The year was really hard, but this book was born from that & for that I’m thankful for that darkness because this book is a bright light to me & I hope it is for you as well. Our house was unfinished, I was struggling more than I ever have before, I wasn’t in a good place in many seasons, but I hope this book does many things for you like it did for me & shows you that there is never a right time for anything… the time is now. Chase those dreams my friends!

How did you pick the theme of the book?

This was so natural. When talking to the publishing company they asked what I was comfortable writing about & my first thought was “COZY”. I am very passionate about cozy interiors and creating a cozy life. I love helping others find the potential to reach their cozy dreams & that is what this book is all about. It’s 100 ways to make your home cozy & they are accessible to all and easy to achieve.

What makes the book different than the blog & Instagram?

The book has a lot of original content that can not be found on the blog & Instagram. I didn’t duplicate what I shared in the book on my blog or Instagram this past year. It’s a tangible guide you can hold in your hand & snuggle up with under a cozy blanket while drinking hot cocoa this fall. It’s a book you can keep forever with 100 of my best ways to make your home cozy all in one place. Though my blog and my instagram imply daily the cozy life and the cozy home.. the book really hones in on the subject and gives so much more detail than the blog and instagram do on this specific subject.

How did you decide what went into the book & what didn’t?

It was all very natural. It took a few months to write the book & over time some things just naturally didn’t fit & some things needed to be in there. I wanted the perfect mix of DIY, simple tips, & advice I’ve learned through my life experiences from moving away from family, infertility, miscarriages, deployments, & more. As the book was being created I chose what was most important to me and what I thought would help others the most as they read my book.

My style is different than yours, will the book still speak to me?

Yes!! The thing about this book is that it’s ways to make your home and lifestyle more cozy no matter what your style is. You can use the tips and customize them to your home, needs, & style. My hope is that anyone with any style can utilize the tips in this book & feel cozy while reading it.

How long did it take to write?

The book process was around a year, but writing it was a lot shorter than that due to dead lines. A lot of the contracts/business items/ & more made it longer, but it was a huge learning curve & I learned a TON during the process & I’m sure after learning all that I did the next time would be a whole lot smoother and quicker.
