Happy Monday!! We are back at it again this week after a long weekend away. We had our meet & greet at Farmhouse Frocks for our line launch & I’m still on a high from meeting and hanging out with so many of you… over 200+ of you showed up and I am still in disbelief that you came to support me in a tiny Ohio town. Overjoyed! Thank you!! More on that later. When we got home I was feeling like I had a half hour of energy before I crashed on the sofa for the rest of the night [where I’m at now writing this for you guys…] so I styled a corner in our living room with one of my recent barn sale finds I picked up last week & I really wanted to chat about cabinet styling for two seconds here to start the week off…

If you are a long time follower here on Liz Marie Blog, you know that cabinet styling is something I do quite often. From big cabinets with wide open doors to small sealed up cabinets used for organizing around the house. I love chippy old cabinets & styling them various ways in our home & I love sharing all the various ways that you can style them so that you can implement them in your homes. Today I had a little fun in the corner of our living room with this multi drawer cabinet that has two doors on the top and some fun shelves to style. In this example of “cabinet styling with Liz” I want to show you how you can layer a cabinet behind a chair or sofa. Sometimes we think that we need to have the full cabinet out in the open, but sometimes it’s all in the layer! For this example I have this cabinet on our living room wall with our large sixpenny chair in front of the cabinet with just the top showing & a little bit of the side because the chair is on an angle. Another fun cabinet styling tip is to style them with the doors open, but in this case I chose to style the cabinet with one door open so that more of the wallpaper on the back wall would show. In the cabinet I displayed a few of my antique finds in the cabinet & kept it on the less busy side to really show off the cabinet & now so much what is inside.

The layering here of the two pieces of furniture is key to making this corner cozy. This setup can be done in so many different areas of the house… think: cabinet behind a sofa, two smaller chairs layered in front of a cabinet… & so much more. Imagine this cabinet just in front of the wall. It’s ok, but with the cabinet as a little layer in this vignette… it adds more texture & visual interest which is always a plus! The chair is cozy on it’s own, but a pillow or two never hurt either so I loved using this lumbar pillow to add a little cozy factor as well. So, that cabinet? It’s already the perfect color, but I will be fixing the hardware on the drawers… the pulls that are showing are broken so I’m going to replace the hardware on the whole piece eventually. But, this is what I did to unwind today… I cozied up this corner of our farmhouse. I tried a few pillow looks & had fun playing with all the layers as always.
