You guys have been asking for some time now for the tutorial on our DIY Built In fireplace and DIY mantel in our master bedroom & today is the day we are finally sharing it! This project was one of our FAVORITES we have ever done & I’m so excited to share it with you today. Well, actually… we are! This is one of Jose’s favorite builds that he has done in a while & he was excited to bring this to you so that you could build one in your home as well. Everyone needs a fireplace right?

Our 1800’s farmhouse has one original fireplace in it which is great. It’s in our front living room & we have yet to use it because… well, I’m scared. Maybe one day. In our back living room we have a gas fireplace, but the dream was to always have a fireplace in our master bedroom. What better time to do that than the winter time? A few months ago Jose took it upon himself to build an electric fireplace in our bedroom & we use it daily. It’s made our room extra cozy & warm all winter long. We also LOVE the insert that we chose & I love the look of it. I mean, it’s not the real deal, but for an electric fireplace it’s nice. You can find the insert that we used [HERE]. I’ve styled the mantel many different ways, but today when I quick snapped these photos it looks like this. The cool thing about this mantel build is that there are two doors under that tapestry & you can open it up to our TV. The tapestry might seem in the way, but it has grommets at the top & we simply take the grommet off one of the screws on the door to open the doors, & place the grommet back on the screw when we shut the door again. Super simple! This little space in our bedroom isn’t quite “finished” but it’s cozy right now & I’m loving it.
