You know… For the past year [actually more] I’ve been giving kitchen updates… changing things… and it’s just never done. There are things that just take time when you are re-doing an entire house… like replacing appliances, affording the lighting you want, finding the right antique piece for a statement piece. It just all takes time & money… but getting there is fun & I enjoy the journey. I just hope that just maybe through the blog & me sharing here daily that you guys are able to enjoy the journey with me & don’t feel the need to rush to see the “after”, but instead feel inspired along the way. Like this little corner of our cozy cottage kitchen that we have been trying a few different setups on. It keeps changing, but I think I finally found the route we want to take with it…

This little corner contains our indoor grill behind those two chippy sliding doors on the right, our old butcher block counter that was an antique find, but is super useful by the grill, & now a lovely little cabinet that is great for storage and other kitchen things. The cabinet will be added to my Painted Fox Collection [HERE]. I honestly thought I would put it in our entryway, but I randomly tried it here and I love it. The cabinet has proven to be great storage for spices, bowls, and other items that we use in this corner. & I love the option of storing large jars on the top with pantry goods that we use often. This Union Pendant Light from Schoolhouse Electric is a big element in our kitchen and it really ties together this corner with the rest of the space. Of course I added some of my favorite antique finds from scales to rolling pins in the mix with some of my favorite greenery, eucalyptus. That chalkboard is also an antique find & is one of my favorite big statement pieces… I think it works well here! The one thing I want to change? I need to pull the butcher block a little forward to make this corner a little roomier. We’ve already used this little little corner a lot since setting it up so I’m quite sure it will remain a version of how we have it right now. I also still need to paint the top of this little corner… anyone spot that? Yah, the work is never done.

A cozy cottage kitchen corner… this little corner has inspired me big time this week so I hope it inspires you in some small way as well. I promise… one day soon our kitchen will be “finished” and then it’s time to share everything with the full before and after. It’s a pretty epic makeover from where we started. Little happy corners like this make me so happy when living in a fixer-upper that is a mess everywhere else… it’s nice to have a pretty corner here and there!
