Welcome to our new farmhouse entryway!

I can’t tell you how disassembled our home is right now. We have so many things coming up so every single room is torn apart. I’m sorry if I haven’t been showing enough  lately, but just know that it’s not always pretty here & things have been kind of up in the air in our decor these past few weeks. I’m talking boxes of decor in every corner while we wait for some things to be built and other craziness like that. But I have good news! We actually got to work on our farmhouse entryway this week & I would say we made a very good start! I wanted to show you what we have to far & the direction we are going in this space by the front door. A new gallery wall with lots of flea market finds & a new card catalog piece that I’m in love with….

 

You guys know that this entryway of ours has gone through a few changes over the two years that we have lived here, but my favorite of all was our entryway gallery wall that you can see [HERE] so I was really excited to hang another gallery wall above this gorgeous new piece that we scored from a local antique shop. For reference, this entryway is on the opposite side of the front living room & by the front door [that will be changing soon & I’m so excited to show you that huge change very soon!] For now let’s talk about all of this loveliness going on in the front entryway ours…

A lovely card catalog find.

I bought this card catalog piece a couple weeks ago at a local antique shop & I got a deal on it because it didn’t have a top on it. Jose had to repair a small piece on the top, but it was super simple & totally worth it. I have thought about adding a marble or some kind of stone to the top, but for now I’m leaving it like this. The piece did not need much work at all and a simple wipe down and that little repair is all we have done to it. I have thought about stripping the antique piece of the stain to reveal a more natural wood, but for now I like her like this & the warmth it adds to our farmhouse style. Now onto this DIY gallery wall that we created above it…

DIY farmhouse style gallery wall.

I honestly didn’t plan this gallery wall out at all & it just kind of happened like most things that I do. It all started with a trip to an antique shop this week where I found some lovely vintage prints in antique frames that I just had to have for our cottage style farmhouse. The prints were some of antique horse races & some other farm shenanigans. Since the card catalog is the focal point of this entryway, it was a little difficult to make the gallery wall shine, but I think with all the charming antique pieces like that tiny cottage mirror, the chippy large frame, & those cute little antique antlers. I think it all works together so well above this large piece. That large chippy blue frame is empty right now, but I’m hoping to put a print from our farm in it or something like that. We will see & you will know as soon as I make any changes. To finish it out I hung some vintage paint brushes down the side of the gallery wall from my collection. Even though this gallery wall wasn’t planned, my hoard of farmhouse decor really helped me out here!

 

On the top of the card catalog I placed a silver tray with some more antique finds from my hoard like a clock & pots. On the other side of the card catalog I have a black lamp that I’ve had for quite a while, but didn’t have a spot for it. That silver trophy is another anitque find that I love so much. I put a real plant in that & of course finished the top off with a big yummy smelling candle that I also have in our farmhouse kitchen on our dining table. I’m sure more of my collections will end up on this piece because it’s such a great way to display some of my favorite things to all those who enter our home.

 

So, here is our farmhouse entryway for now. I’m hoping to fill that frame soon & find a rug for this spot so I will be back soon with a lot more updates. Today we made more work in our cottage kitchen so I’m excited to share that with you very soon as well!
