Ok, have you noticed I’m being so annoying and using exclamation points in all my posts lately? Yah. I can’t help it. I’m so overly excited about everything happening in our fixer upper lately that I  just have to use them because it doesn’t seem right without them. Anyways… on to today’s exciting news in our fixer upper. We changed out the lights in the dining room! It almost doesn’t seem fair blogging about this today since the dining room isn’t “finished” so it’s not going to do these lights all the justice they deserve, but here we go…

So, if you have been following our blog for a while.. you know that one of the first DIY projects we did when we moved into this house was this DIY ladder chandelier [HERE]. I dreamed up the idea & Jose & I made it a reality… & it was lovely. So lovely. But, it was a lot. We hung that light before really diving into our renovations deeply so it was a BIG decision to make before knowing what we wanted in the space. The light was lovely, but it was large. The best part? I’ve seen so many of you recreate the light in your homes & that made me so happy to see! A few weeks ago I was sitting in this room & I was craving simplicity, but with a little Liz Marie twist. I found these antique white barn lights & knew they would look amazing in this space… in fact we are taking these lights into the kitchen as well. The Liz Marie twist? Instead of hanging one over the table, we hung three. Three antique white lights that simplify the space, but also make there own statement. Jose is a master at hanging lights & he basically created an exposed conduit system that wires all three lights up to one central electrical box. That’s how we turned one light box into a three light system.. I hope that makes sense but if you have a lot of questions, ask away & Jose will answer your questions & maybe even do a blog post on it. He’s the talented one in our relationship… I hope you all know that! You can find lights like these at many antique stores, flea markets, & even online sometimes with a simple search. I thankfully found some that were re-wired since they are antique so that part was quite simple for us, but totally doable if you find some that need to be re-wired.

So there you go. We went from three pretty crystal chandeliers hanging from a ladder to three simple white farmhouse lights. I’m obsessed with the change. I was sad to see that large statement of a light fixture go, but I’m thrilled with how fresh and clean it is now. This room has actually been going through some major changes lately like getting this new piece [HERE] & even changing around the layout. Funny story… this room is about to change even more because we are PAINTING THE FLOORS!! Read all about that [HERE] & I will be back asap with all the other changes in this space soon.
