We are at this point in our fixer upper where not one room in our farmhouse is finished [which is so weird, but exciting as well because there are so many possibilities] & with every room in limbo we are starting to collect furniture pieces as we go for the rooms that are the closest to being “done” like our front living room, kitchen, & sunroom. It’s been fun starting to plan more and actually start getting the big pieces that will be big focal points in the rooms. This week I’ve picked up three pieces of deconstructed furniture, a more decorative deconstructed sofa, a functional deconstructed sofa, and a deconstructed chair, three pieces of furniture from my good friend Ali From Mustard Seed Beginnings & I wanted to share them with you guys today so you can start getting a vision for the completed spaces that we will have someday [hopefully soon…]

Deconstructed furniture is basically pieces of furniture stripped of the upholstery to reveal the lining and frame. Some people don’t “get” the style, but I can’t tell you how obsessed I am with the simplicity of it all. It’s the simplest form of a piece of furniture & I dig it. Deconstructed furniture combines my love of farmhouse & cottage style perfectly. A lot of companies make new furniture with the deconstructed look, but my pal Ali has been taking apart actual antique pieces for me lately & I am so thankful.

This deconstructed sofa that is currently sitting in our dining room with no place to go will be going in our sunroom when it’s complete! This one will sit in front of the large wall of windows & it’s honestly the most perfect size. It’s low enough so that it won’t be blocking any of the windows & an added bonus… it’s actually very comfortable which is a necessity because the sunroom will be a very well used room in our home I’m sure. This one has tufting & two large cushions that I have covers for and will show you later once we get it in the room.

The next sofa is one that we got for our front living room to sit across from our sofa that we got from my grandma. This now makes every piece of furniture we got in that room either a hand me down or an antique which I love. This one is also so comfortable & so much different than the one that we have for the sunroom. No tufting, one simple long cushion, & more burlap than the other sofa.

The last piece of deconstructed furniture we picked up was this little deconstructed chair. This piece will most likely also be in our front living room as we needed something to put in a sad empty corner. I’m actually sitting here blogging right now & it might be my new favorite sitting spot. This piece I also might get a cushion slipcover made as well, but I do love it this way for now as well.

I don’t think I’m done with this whole deconstructed furniture & I’m pretty sure we will have more pieces in our house very soon. I love it mixed in with our slipcovered furniture & I love how much texture it adds to our spaces. I can’t wait to show you these pieces in a finished room of our home!
