Jumping the Gun

I was one of those people this year that when I saw the first leaf on a tree change I headed to my local farm stand & loaded up carts full of pumpkins. Even though it was 90 degrees out, my little booty was the one picking out pumpkins while everyone else was still going to the beach. Now that it’s a little cooler & fall is rapidly is coming, I feel a little more normal. I’m crazy about fall & I was even crazier this year because it’s my first year being able to decorate our farmhouse for fall. I promised myself I wouldn’t go overboard inside this year because the entire house is under construction, BUT the porch was a different story. Even though we don’t have the entire porch laid out or styled, you know that I wasn’t going to let our porch steps go that easy. I brought home some pumpkins, squash, mums, & ornamental kale & went all “fall crazy” on our front steps….

No Rhyme or Reason

Honestly there was no rhyme or reason to our pumpkin filled porch steps. We unloaded the jeep filled with pumpkins into a wagon & then unloaded them onto the steps. After a tiny bit of tweaking this is what it ended up looking like. I honestly think the more natural layout the better. That amazing jack-o-lantern made from a propane tank is from our store, The Found Cottage, & it’s probably my most favorite fall decor item that we have. Thanks to my friend Abby [here] for introducing me to these little propane dudes. Those stands by the door were a flea market find & since we still haven’t replaced the door, I chose to use a simple wreath & an olive bucket I had lying around. My biggest recommendation? Shop local farm stands and markets for your pumpkins. If your local places are like ours, the pumpkins & mums will be a lot cheaper. Find somewhere that has a big selection of gourds, squash, & pumpkins to get this eclectic look like we have here. My favorite is that hubbord squash that is the odd shaped light blue one that you see up front there.

Glimpse into our fall
