Well… almost. You see, we thought it was done & then I looked closely through the camera today & in the direct sunlight & realized it needs some touchups on that bottom beadboard. My biggest advice when you are doing projects or decorating a room? Look at it through a camera lens because it will not lie! Snap a few photos & review them to see what you want to change about what you are working on. So, back to those paint touchups. We actually hired the same guy who painted the outside of our house to paint our dining room. We did this for a few reasons, but the main one was that we wanted it done quickly so that we could actually have a dining room in the next month & we had some more pressing [not as glamorous] work to do around the farm. He also does a great job for a great price. None of us noticed the beadboard at the bottom because he finished when it was dark… NOT A BIG DEAL, but I like to share absolutely everything with you guys. I’m going to quit talking & just show you our wonderful progress…

So here is what we started with…

So it’s still a construction zone & certainly not safe for littles, but it’s coming along. I love how the shiplap turned out above the beadboard & chair rail. I was a little nervous about it, but knew that once it was all painted the same color that it would work. So much texture & character on the walls now even though they are all white. Next up: sanding those floors! The entire room was painted with Magnolia Home true white since all of the walls are trim. We will be warming up the space with the floors, furniture, & accessories like curtains & rugs. The paint came out beautifully minus a few touch ups we need to do in the crevices at the bottom part of the wall, but everywhere else it really brought out Jose’s woodwork out so well. I am still impressed with this skills to do the shiplap around the arch doorways. Now who is excited for me to take that light fixture down & put a chandelier [or two] up? Because I am!

I know it seems like we are just doing a whole lot of painting lately, but it’s real life in real time. I hope ou posts show you how long things actually take in “real life” & make you feel a little more normal.. all those before & after posts take time & a lot of work. As we are sitting here I’m talking a mile a minute to Jose about a wall I want to take down & how I want to paint all our interior doors the same color… oh & about how tomorrow I think we should start ripping up more carpet. Things are always happening here at the farmhouse. I wish that someone would come capture it all on video, but then again I’m scared what you would think of me if you saw me in zit cream ripping up carpet in my pajamas. Just keeping it real. Anyways, I hope you are loving this room more now that it is all painted & more cohesive looking. I CAN’T WAIT TO DECORATE THIS ROOM! It’s killing me to not be able to. Once the floors are done, I’m going to go crazy.. can’t wait to share those moments with you.
