Jose did it again! He made a window cabinet & it’s pretty much one of my favorite gems he has ever made. I couldn’t wait to share it with you guys today here on the blog & on his blog [here] he shared how you can make your very own. A little back story: Jose built a bookshelf for this partition wall in our home that divides the kitchen & the living room a while back & I really liked it, but you know us & change, it’s bound to happen! So recently I found this window in our garage because you all know I’m into cleaning the garage now as sen last week in my DIY beehive end table [here], & I really wanted to make something fun with the window. Enter the DIY window kitchen cabinet…

It’s such a chippy messy cabinet & that’s why I love it so much. The window has layers of paint on it & that’s why I love it so much. The wood used to build the cabinet around the window was new wood so to blend the old window & the new wood together I used Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in the color farmhouse white. I had a little fun with the inside of the cabinet. I bought some Rifle paper co. paper from one of my favorite local boutiques here in Michigan, Rebel Reclaimed, to use on the back of the cabinet. For the shelves I wanted a paint color that was similar to the paper that I bought so I brought the paper to Home Depot & had them match a paint color to the background of the paper. I think they did an amazing job if I do say so myself!

So, to put the wrapping paper on the cabinet I have to admit I didn’t do this perfectly. Wallpaper isn’t my thing let’s say. What I did was coat the back of the paper & apply it to the back of the cabinet & rub out the bubbles with my fingers. That’s all I did. It’s not perfect, but I think the imperfections help it look a little more vintage. I’ll just tell myself that, but really I don’t think it looks that bad!! I think it turned out super cute & adds great storage to this space. Jose did such a great job building it, I’m so proud of him & the designs he comes up with for furniture. Inside the cabinet I have my dishes & pie sign from World Market, glass containers from Marshalls, crate from Gable Lane Crates, & white pitcher from Ikea among other little things. On top of the cabinet is some cloches from World Market with Ikea plants, a scale from my store [The Found Cottage], & a littl white pitcher. What do you guys think of our large DIY window cabinet?
