A couple weeks ago I picked up a little dry sink. Yah, I didn’t know exactly what it was either so this is what the dictionary says: “an antique kitchen cabinet, now generally used as an ornament rather than for practical purposes.”. Basically it’s a little dresser with a metal top that used to be used for placing water pitchers on before there was indoor plumbing. This dry sink I picked up had an awesome metal top & I knew I wanted to paint it to make it more “Liz Marie”. Jose loved the piece so much that he wanted to use it as a cabinet in his bathroom, but sadly it was too big for the space so I painted this one to sell at the store. This piece will be a hard one to say goodbye to because of how unique it is & how awesome the functionality is. I may have to find a place quickly before we load it up and haul it off to the store. The photos are a little dark because the sun was setting when I took the photos so you can’t see the cute little wheels it has, but it’s just pretty darling all around. The best part? The drawers are so deep & it has so much storage in it. & that metal top? I’m just in love. Here is what it looked like before I painted it…

I painted this piece in Maison Blanche sugar cane & I sealed it with clear wax. Super simple. The piece had some natural distressing & damage to it that made the paint look old which I loved. The original hardware was amazing so obviously I kept that on the piece. It’s always a bonus when you find a piece with all original hardware. It’s almost like winning the furniture lottery. I styled the piece with some of my Rae Dunn coffee pieces which made me want to keep it even more. This piece would make a killer coffee bar. Imagine a coffee brewer or french press with your coffee cup collection. The drawers could be filled with tea towels, coffee bags, utensils, & more. It could make the best little coffee bar for any room in your home. But let’s face it, it would make a great piece for any purpose really. Seriously, help me find a place for it.

I do love this little piece & how it turned out. I think the sugar cane color really gave the piece new life & made it lighter and brighter. I just love the power of paint & how it can completely change a piece of furniture. I also love how versatile this piece is. I mean a dry sink to a coffee bar? I’m in! Now I’m thinking I need to make room for a coffee bar somewhere in our house. Maybe in the office?
