This past weekend was SO BEAUTIFUL here in Michigan. This 60 degree weather with sunshine came after a bitter cold week & everyone here freaked out. People were out washing their cars, walking their dogs, grilling, & it was so weird to remember that we actually had neighbors after hibernating for so long. What did we decide to do? Junkin’ duh.

haha on Friday Jose & I decided to hit the road and stop at a few of our favorite spots to find some treasures. At one of our stops I found a basket filled with milk glass vases & I just had to have them. There were about a million vases [more like 38] & the set made my heart skip a beat. I collected milk glass way back in the day & have always been very fond of it. I envisioned a table filled with the vases for spring & I wanted to put together a centerpiece with all of them to show you guys. I also did a spring mantel with the milk glass to show how versatile they are. You could also use this concept on bookshelves, a sofa table, an entry table, & so much more…

For the dining room I used a long table runner from World Market & layered it with a bunny table runner from the Target dollar section. I randomly laid out the milk glass vases & filled them with some faux boxwood that I actually got from pulling apart a boxwood decor ball that I had lying around & was no longer using. So simple. This concept could also be used for an easy centerpiece for a wedding or any party as well. The best part is? A lot of you have vases laying around the house that you don’t use, why not paint them all the same color using spray paint or chalk paint? Also if you want the milk glass effect you can use puff paint to make the designs & then paint white over top of the puff paint. So simple! & a great way to recycle old decor that you have.

For the mantel decor I put two round basket trays from Target on the mantel that I already had & layered the milk glass vases in front. It is a simple decor transition from winter to spring & it was with other items that I already had. You can find milk glass a lot of places from antique stores to your grandmas basement, you just have to keep your eyes open if you are looking for some for your own collection. I happened to find 38 pieces at once, but you could always start with one & build from there.

It’s so fun to use items you find while out treasure hunting because they are unique & not everyone has them. Also, if you get them for a great price that’s even better. If you can’t find milk glass you could find some vases at goodwill and spray paint them all white [or another color of your choosing] to get the same effect. Although most of you probably already have a few vases lying around you can recycle. Also, for some cheap greenery you can purchase a garland, wreath, or boxwood ball [like I used] & cut it up in small parts to put in each vase. That way it cuts the cost, or again look around you house, you never know what you can find to recycle. Decor doesn’t have to be expensive to look good. I really hope you liked today’s post.
