I’m going to preface my next sentence with, I’m not complaining in the least bit. Starting this store has been a whirlwind! We were so crazy busy everyday of opening week & I never expected that. I thought the first few days might be busy, but then level out. Nope. Everyday was busy this past week, our biggest problem was keeping stuff in stock. WELL, all of this busyness is really making me, Liz Marie, figure out a schedule. I’m not one for plans & here on the blog I fly by the seat of my pants. I never plan out blog posts & never have. I like blogging in the moment which I will never stop doing. BUT with the store opening I’m going to have to start planning ahead a little more like a normal functioning adult because I will never quit blogging & I want to always share what we are up to. With that being said, I’m trying to find balance in all aspects of my life including my personal life, the store, my blog, & my health. I’m a spontaneous person who is kind of like a free bird so this store is forcing me to turn a new leaf which I’m actually excited about. Waking up earlier, going to bed earlier [kind of], finding new routines, & figuring it all out as I go along. I feel like this post kind of represents where I am right now. I re-did this bookshelf the other day & did a little photoshoot of it at our store. I used all items in our store to style it & It’s not my typical all neutral home decor & I love the combo that will be here on the blog. I now have this diversity of the store & our home which I think is really fun. Ok, I got kind of deep with you all today, but before we get to the bookcase I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all your support with all of these changes lately. I appreciate all the visits to the blog, the shares, the kind words, & just all the love. You guys make my day!

Seriously this bookshelf looks WAY different than when I picked it up. I always dreamed about having a vintage bookshelf like this in our house, but I put it in the store & now it’s sold. So, maybe I’ll find one again one day. Here is how it looked when I picked it up…

It looked like someone maybe started painting it at the bottom? Who knows, but I chose to paint it with Maison Blanche Confederate Gray with a dark wax over it. I really wanted to update the piece & make it a little warmer than it was. I also used some new hardware on the piece that I found at Marshalls. Here is how it looked after a quick makeover by yours truly…

Since this piece wasn’t styled at our house, I quickly styled it at the store so don’t mind that two of the doors aren’t shut properly, but you can’t always be perfect right? The doors on the bookcase actually was in pretty awesome condition which is always a bonus when dealing with vintage furniture. I am obsessed with chalk paint & how easy it makes furniture makeovers.
