1. Thanks for a great post Liz. I wish I could have gone to Haven and taken your class in person, so happy to pick up your tips on your blog today.

    Liz,

Thank you for sharing all this with us! Your advice is invaluable. I can’t wait to implement everything.

I am not able to see your example photos, though, do you think is that on my end or your end?

    Blessings!!

  3. Thanks Liz! Consistency is my biggest problem. I get so insecure about my pictures that I don’t post them…they’re probably perfectly fine, but I think I just get scared that someone’s going to judge me since I’m not a professional photographer. It’s so important not to be afraid to just be yourself. Learning!

Another thing I’ve found that’s really helpful is being an encourager. When I see something really cool or beautiful, I make sure to comment on it! It’s so easy to just think it and not say it, but then the poster doesn’t get the chance to know that they’re appreciated, and that you think they’re pretty cool! I’ve gotten lots of followers from commenting, and I think some of it is because we all want more positivity in our lives. People will follow you to get more warmth and happiness in their own feed!

thanks for the tips. You may want to know only the top 2 photos in the post are showing up, the other’s are a box with an X

I have a few comments though

“If you are going to use square photos stick with that & if you are going to do cropped photos stick with cropped.” – square IS cropped (it’s cropped to square) so not sure what you mean by if you are going to crop stick with that??

“Use the same editing style for all of your photos so that they are consistent” -this doesn’t work all the time, because if I take pictures outside, I’m going to edit those differently than the photos of my house or food. personally I think it’s a little boring to look at a feed and it all looks just the same.

“Post at least once a day I recommend 2-3 times a day.” if I post more than once a day, I get way less engagement on each photo. Also, I don’t like to post at the same time of day all the time, because most people are on IG at the same time of day, and if you always post at the same time, then you are missing people that are not on at that time.

I find asking questions is the best way to get engagement. and something important you didn’t mention is ENGAGEMENT. Answer questions and engage with your followers in your comments and leave comments on other accounts.

HI Suzanne! Thanks for your feedback.. these are all things that have worked for me to grow my account very very well. So sorry if they do not work well for you. 2 times a day is my usual & it works super good for me. But again every account is different & I said that when I taught the class & should add that on here as well. haha & yes I always say that that way, but I think you are right and most people say cropped for square. Also I did include the whole section on engagement and asking questions which works very well: “- Comment on other accounts, like their photos, & really be active on Instagram.

    – The more you show up on Instagram, the more people will be able to find you. They will click on your name & check out your feed & hopefully they like what they see & will want to follow.

    – In the same aspect be sure to respond back to comments you get & really interact with your followers as well.”

And I also ask my readers questions every time & works great & I love talking to my readers so it works well. Hope that clears some things up 🙂

Your Instagram session at Haven was fantastic! I have been using Instagram for 6 days now! Ha ha! I have a quick question for you. I would like to share my Instagram post on Facebook. However when I click share and then Facebook, it shares it on my person Facebook page and not my blogger Facebook page. Do you know how to change that so I can select the blogger page? Thanks!

  7. Thanks for posting the tip on photo editing. Your example pic showed a huge difference! I live in the gray midwest and feel so much frustration with trying to get bright and airy shots. I’m going to download a few of the apps you recommended & see if I can accomplish the same gorgeous results that you get! Thanks

  8. These tips are amazing Liz!! I’m fairly new to using Instagram regularly and just started my own little blog at thisfairlady.com, so im so excited to use your tips!! Thanks so much!! You are such a huge source of inspiration for me…. XOXO

Hi Liz Marie! It was so amazing to attend your class at Haven. I really learned a lot of useful information that I can’t wait to apply to my Instagram page. It was so nice to meet you and learn from one of the best!

  10. Great post LizMarie! Thank you for sharing what’s worked for you. I need to get better at consistency! Your IG accounts are beautiful!
