When you get a new dining room table you are supposed to create a new centerpiece right? That’s a rule right? Well, I just made it one. Honestly our centerpiece before was a little too much for me at the moment so I wanted to create a super simple serene centerpiece that didn’t compete with the cubbies & other things we have in our dining room. Also I wanted something simple on our new dining room table that Mr. LMB built recently [more on that soon… hopefully this week!] He did such an amazing job, so why distract from his beautiful piece of art? I just accented it with some of my recent finds, my antique glass jugs. Here is how it looked like today…
I found these at Painted Farmgirl here in Michigan where I have my booth that I sell my goods in. Yes, as I’m selling my goods I’m buying others goods.. it’s called recycling. Do it. I just love that these glass jugs are a large centerpiece & statement, but since they are clear they don’t add too much weight or distraction to the table. I think they are perfect as is. I did try to put some greenery in them & I hated it, I was craving simplicity so simple it is.
Oh & I got an antique school house clock & replaced the Ikea clock in our kitchen. I’m in love, & no it doesn’t work… yet. but for now who cares, just look at it! One of my favorite finds lately. Thank you old man who pulled this out of his barn for me!
I have always loved these schoolhouse clocks & have been wanting an authentic one for some time now. Now that this little baby is hanging in our kitchen I think it fits in perfectly & it is like it was made for our little cottage kitchen. One day we will take a few minutes to make it work, but for now it’s purely decorative & I’m perfectly ok with that. Love them! I must overdo things because it would never cross my mind to leave them but they look great! Where do you recommend getting greenery? I hate it when it looks so plastic and not authentic. Also if you’re looking for an idea sometime to blog about-how about decorating a daylight basement? we just finished ours and its bright and i love it but I am stumped with possible window treatments (or skip them altogether?) and what do do with the ledge on the wall and how to make it make sense. Just an idea because I’ve searched everywhere and there isn’t much advice!

I love those big old jugs, I bought a similar one up North when Chris and I were on our honeymoon and it’s wrapped in a rattan basket type thing. I love it. On the look out for a good faux branch.
