I would love to be able to share a lovely pretty porch on our house with you today. But that’s not the case. As many of you have seen [here] in my post about picking siding, we are completely redoing the outside of our house. This journey is scary and exciting at the same time, you do not want to make a bad decision or regret not going with your instincts. We were fortunate to partner with Skybell, an awesome American Made company, that allowed us to use their product to kick off the renovation. I know, I know… if we are redoing our siding why would we install a doorbell, it was a facet and preview to some ideas we were tossing around with the direction we wanted to go in for our exterior makeover.
The installation could not have been any simpler, simply pop-off the old doorbell, in our case, the doorbell was so old and sun-damaged, it practically denigrated off the house. Take the previous wires, attach them to the Skybell, and attach the Skybell to the house, done. Using the Skybell is even easier the the installation, download the app and use the step by step instruction to sync it to your phone, and you are ready to go. Since we have installed the Skybell we have not been able to put the app down, it is fun to “creep” on the neighborhood or not have to worry about peeking around corners or quickly sprawling to the ground to avoid someone knocking at the door. The added security and convenience makes this a necessity to our home, and we will always have on one installed.
We have only been using the skybell for two weeks now & I can’t imagine not having it. I feel like it adds security & convenience that we’ve never had before. Other than the camera & video, one cool other security feature is the motion detector that can let you know if someone is at your door without them even ringing the doorbell. Seriously, this is one high tech little guy. Another problem the SkyBell has solved is being woken up by un-expected door bell rings. I mean, that’s the worst right? From the awesome skybell app on your phone where you can view video from your doorbell at all times, you can also put your door bell in silent mode where it will make your door bell silent & simply send an alert to your phone saying the doorbell rang. Amazing! Phone silenced, doorbell silenced, I can sleep in peace! Also, let’s face it, Mr. LMB loves anything techy & this is just it. He loves that while he is at work he can see who comes to our door from his phone & I love also while I’m away from the house I can see who rings our doorbell & talk with them from my phone if I need to. I mean, who would have thought? Again, I wouldn’t want to live without this at our house after the past few weeks of using it. I mean, we can now answer the door right from our phones, no more opening doors for solicitors & knowing right away when a package is dropped off at the house. I’m in! Of course we played around with the SkyBell & loved the feature that you can take photos of whoever is outside from your phone….

That is really neat.. We have a window in the upper half of our front door .. It would be nice to be able to see who is at the door, without them seeing you.. Espically when I am cleaning and look kind of “iffy” and for safety as well !!!
I love this! No bulky cameras and and easy install. I would love to be able to “silent” the doorbell as my hubby works nights and often gets woken by the doorbell when trying to sleep.

I am hearing impaired and even wear hearing aids but when I am working in the basement I don’t always hear the doorbell. This would be a great security feature as well.

I love that I can be away from home and know if someone has been at my home. Great for UPS and FedEx deliveries that would just sit on the porch without me knowing they were there.
The most amazing thing is that I can be on the sofa and answer the door at the same time 🙂

This is so cool! We live right on the edge of a busy city, and I’m home alone most days with my two year-old (stay-at-home-mom). We don’t have a peep hole, window or anything around our front door, and I’m a bit nervous every time the doorbell rings when I’m by myself. This would give me so much peace of mind! Very smart.
I love that the skybell can be silenced! With two little ones who still nap and go to bed early being able to silence the doorbell would be amazing!

I would love to be able to see who is at the door without having to look, and window placement makes it pretty impossible to do without being seen, anyway. I also would love to be able to let people know that I know they are there and I’ll be there in a minute, because I can be pretty slow. 🙂

Oh my gosh. I’ve never heard of something like this. I LOVE IT. I’m ALWAYS dive bombing behind my couch when the doorbell rings… my husband does not understand. Haha. Plus our dog goes crazy when he hears the doorbell, and I would loveee the silencing feature!!! My neighborhood is okay but not the best, and this would add so much peace of mind, especially the motion detector and ability to just see outside your front door from anywhere on your phone. Even if I don’t win I think I’m definitely investing in one of these!!! 🙂

This is so awesome! I wouldn’t have to peep through the curtains anymore when I’m home alone to see who is at the door! We’ve had a rash of break-ins and several home invasions(on our street) and this would be amazing!

This would be awesome! Recently moving to a city, we have had a ton of problems when trying to recieve packages…and unfortunately some theft, I would feel so much better knowing exactly when they come so I can bring them inside right away!

LOVE this idea. Coming from a family with a doorbell ‘curse’ (seriously, not one of us has ever had a fully functional doorbell), this looks like the IDEAL solution.
My current (4th?) doorbell works – sometimes. But it can also ring when nobody’s there: Happened again last week. I went to the door: Nobody. As if to taunt me, it rang again – as I was standing just inside the door. (Is there such a thing as a doorbell ghost?)
My ‘please knock loudly’ sign gets bigger and more in-your-face every year, but I still miss deliveries on a regular basis. Skybell would be handy in so many ways. Thanks for introducing this to us!

I’m a mother of 3 with a husband going over seas soon. I would love to be able to see who is at the door through my phone whether I’m home or not. It would definitely make me feel 10 times safer.

I like that the Skybell can let you to see, hear, and speak to the visitor at your door even if you aren’t at home.
