I want to start out by saying that I’m not perfect. Obviously because no one is, but I never want anyone who reads my blog to get the idea that I never mess up or that every project I do is perfect the first time. Sometimes I only tend to show you the projects that turn out perfectly or at least close to the way I wanted them to, but that’s not what life is all about. My life is imperfectly beautiful & I love it that way. Not everything I touch is gold, & how boring would that be if it was? For example, on Sunday I sat down to paint this would pallet clock. It might have been because the book I was listening to while painting [The Girl On The Train]  or it could have been because I hate measuring & making things perfect [Not a type A person for sure], but either way.. the clock I made did not turn out perfect, but I still love it even with all it’s imperfections & I think it adds to the charm. This week has been really rough for our little family & I will be blogging it soon, but strangely this imperfect DIY wood pallet clock reminds me that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.

You don’t even have to list all the imperfections. & don’t be mean to me about it haha. I won’t point them out, because if I do you won’t stop seeing it [Mr. LMB didn’t notice until I pointed it out either] But seriously maybe it’s because of the week I had & that project was one of the things that took my mind off of everything going on, but I still love this clock. I’m imperfect & so is this clock, & yet I’m still loved & so is this clock. That was deep. But true! Another thing about my style is that I think the imperfections just add to the charm of it. My style is imperfect, my style is cozy, my style is rustic, & so is this clock.

I’m going to give you a quick rundown of how I made this clock, but you best believe I will be back soon with a more perfected version for you.. hopefully. & when I make a more “perfect” clock I’ll do a more thorough tutorial. Until then here is what I did…

I took the top of a wood spool [wire spool] and stained it dark. I then took some chalk paint [in mushroom] and dry brushed over the stain. After the chalk paint was dry I sanded the clock down before I put the numbers on. For the numbers I used these stencils I had lying around & some black chalk paint & stenciled them on. Make sure you put your stencils on straight. Just saying. On that note that’s how I made the clock wall art.

Isn’t it refreshing to see a non-perfect project? Doesn’t it make you feel more normal? I think we should all start being more comfortable sharing our imperfections in this world of social media that only displays peoples perfect lives. Sometimes it can make us feel inadequate, but trust me you are are normal, you have an amazing life, you are alive, you are breathing, & you are loved. Have you messed up a DIY project before?
