1. I totally plan to name my house too whenever I get my own. Lovely post as usual 🙂

  2. Love it! The sign is just beautiful. The farm we live on has a name but we didn’t name it my inlaws did, I like that it has a name make it more special somehow.

We named our house/farm 8 yrs ago and get comments all the time.
We live on top of a huge hill over looking a valley and raise Christmas trees. High Point Farm
    Hence the name.
I think everyone should name their home!!!

love it, what makes a house a cottage?

  5. I love it! I think it is so important for a house to have a name – we just bought our first home, and it seemed wrong to me to just have a number – it’s Spring Cottage now! And today it is a gorgeous sunny spring day and it is really starting to feel like it! And it’s definitely a cottage, built in 1875 in rural England, but I agree, ‘cottage’ is a mentality, and a warmth and cosiness which your home has in spades.
I love the sign, but am even more in love with those glass lamps – are they a DIY (and if so, please send me in the direction of the post)? Just beautiful! x

  6. Completely charming and utterly English! But of course I myself do live in “Storybook Cottage”. 🙂

Love the name you picked, sounds perfect. I will def consider the same once we buy our first house 🙂

  8. Liz, I love the name of your home. I think all homes, no matter how grand or modest, should have a name. We have named our last three homes. Maybe it’s because I grew up in England and house names are common, but I think a home is happiest with a name! Your home is just like you… beautiful!

Not crazy! Our house is Mooney Farms, after Schrute Farms from The Office. 🙂

hey girl, i love that. i tend to name my cars so i can relate. and i always refer to my house as a cottage.. my husband laughs cause its not quite a cottage like you would see on tv. but its a cottage to me cause of its size and our cozy lifestyle also. lol. idk about you, but we live in throws, blankets and pillows. in fact all my kids have to be in some sort of a blanket when sitting on the couch, whether its winter or summer. lol. love the sign. I’m working on putting up a similar sign this week with extra pallet pieces. and this post made it that much more exciting!

Your friend did an am amazing job on the sign. No doubt! However, my comment is a little more personal. I just want to tell you how much I enjoy you. I wish we could really know each other. I get you, your style, your dreams, your disappointments, your sense of humor and I especially love that you don’t take every single think too seriously. To be even more honest, because of all these traits, you help keep me centered, motivated and inspired. I am sure you do this for others too. Thanks!!! Didn’t mean to overdo it. Just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated.

Tarkemmin sisustukseen voit tutustua Liz Marien blogissa. […]
