Yay! The downstairs bathroom in our rental is finally finished! This project was really fun for many reasons. One reason is because just seeing the power of paint & a little styling is always so exhilarating for me. Two because it proves a point, even if you can’t do as much as we can in our rental, you can make your rental a a haven. Even though we only have a month left in this rental, we now have a bathroom that we love & enjoy. We used all things we already had including paint & the only thing we purchased was the shower curtain & the rug which can be used again of course. With a little paint & some decor you already have, you can make any room in your home a place that you can be proud of.
The small bathroom is now very light & bright as opposed to it looking like a dungeon before. I honestly was freaked out about taking a shower in this space before & now I actually look forward to it. Design can really change your mood & this bathroom is complete proof of that. The paint color we used is gray shimmer by Behr & it covered the purple like a dream.
Oh man. Just looking at the before pictures it makes me mad that we lived with it like that for 6 months & didn’t make the changes sooner. The details? Well, the curtains, rugs, plants, basket, candle, tray, antlers & towels are all from Marshalls. The only new Marshalls items are the curtains & the rugs. The amazing hexagon shelves that reflect the hexagon tiles on the floor are from Axel on Etsy. Their whole store is super cute & the shelves are a great focal point in this space. The gray towel with writing is from World Market along with the bath salts, soap, & lotion. The magnified mirror is from Ikea & that’s about it for the source list. I’ll say it again because I know you are thinking it… THE POWER OF PAINT IS AMAZING! I really hope that through this bath makeover it really inspired you to make every room in your home a space that you love no matter if you are renting or if you own, & whatever budget you are on. It looks so nice! Love how the shelves mimic the tiles! I feel almost like I am looking at my bathroom! I have the same marble strip in my doorway and the same tiles except mine are a little smaller! And I have the white cabinets and wall tiles except mine are in the shower. I’m an antler girl too and love antlers as my dรฉcor! Love the antler plaque and how it has the grey and white look to it to match the color scheme.
I love how all the simple, cosmetic touches really changed the look of the bathroom! The people who get to rent the place next will really appreciate the fresh new look to add their personal touches to. I know your simple makeover will inspire others to do the same thing!
Liz, I was wondering what deal you may have with the owner of this rental. You are fixing it up and it will be in such beautiful shape when you leave, they could rent for more or even sell! The last thing to do in the bathroom is spray paint the vent cover white! Your taste is so beautiful and welcoming!
Looks wonderful! Great job! The only thing that stands out to me is the brown floor vent… I would change that to white or cream. LOL… that’s being very picky though. It’s amazing what a transformation you made in this room!

haha that & the light switch, and the tile, and the mirror… haha if I didn’t stop somewhere I would never stop. Since it’s our rental we just let all of that stuff be ๐
haha The vent cover, the light switch, the mirror.. I could have kept going, but since its a rental we decided to let all those things be ๐ We have a great deal with the owner & they knew before we moved in what I did & were happy with it.

That sunroom turned from a place I was scared to sit in because of bugs under the carpet to a place that I loved sitting and having my coffee when all we did was rip the carpet up and throw it out & paint the walls & the door.
