Oh my goodness! You guys. This week home in Michigan has been so busy. I can’t even begin to explain how my day to day life has been since I’ve been here. Every day I have been getting a lot done at the house & trying to get it ready for paint & flooring coming VERY SOON. Recently our kitchen cupboards went in, & our countertops, sink, lighting, backsplash, & more will be installed soon as well. I will have more updates this week on the house, but today I wanted to show you something I painted in the house this week that I am so excited to share with you!  Now, the rest of the bathroom is unfinished & the floor is ripped up, but hey, the vanity is looking pretty fly & that’s all that counts right?

What a difference huh? I am always amazed at the power of paint & this just reinsures me of how amazing it is. When we completely gutted our Michigan house we left this vanity in our downstairs bathroom because it was in pretty good condition & having on working bathroom while all the workers were in our home. While I was home this week I wanted to give it a quick makeover before we painted the walls, added new flooring, a new mirror,  & a new light fixture. I think the painted bathroom vanity is a great start to this bathroom makeover.

Shortly after  this photo was taken I took down that mirror & after the walls are painted a new mirror {& light fixture} will take it’s place. Ok.. on to the paint I used. I used Maison Blanche chalk paint {which I picked up from Painted Farm Girl in Hudsonville} in the color Franciscan gray. I love this shade of gray & I would totally recommend painting cabinets with this paint. I love that the gray is not too dark or too light & I feel like the color will hold up well in the bathroom. I did about two quick coats with the chalk paint using a cheap paint brush which was recommended to me. The paint honestly covered very well in one coat with no prep, but there were a few spots that I wanted to go back over to be more thorough.  After it was dry I used the clear wax by Maison Blanche which went on like butter by the way, & after about a half hour I rubbed of the wax in circular motions using an old T-shirt. The vanity now has a silky smooth finish & I’m truly impressed with how beautiful the vanity came out.

With this small cabinet I did not even put a dent in the can of paint, but I did use quite a bit of wax to seal this piece which was maybe not necessary, but I feel like it gave the bathroom cabinet the finish I wanted & it will be protected from the bathroom environment. After the wax was dry I put on the old  vanity hardware & it actually looked great with the new update though I might change it when we move in.  I cleaned up the countertop & the faucet a tad bit, but it still needs some work. That little bit of cleaning made the vanity look a million times better!

I have always been a lover of chalk paint & everyone knows that & this Maison Blanche paint ranks up there with the top of the chalk paints for me for sure. I can’t wait to paint more pieces with it & try more of the colors & waxes.  What do you think of the vanity makeover? Are you dying to see the new floors & the rest of the Michigan house.
