Supplies:
1. To make the door shelves we started with an antique door that we found at our local thrift shop. We first cleaned up the door & taped off the glass to get it ready for repairs & some paint.
3. After the door had a fresh coat on it & it was all cleaned up we went to add the shelving & the light.
4. The light was a pendant we already had lying around the house & we built the pipe fixture that the light is connected too. To build the DIY industrial pendant holder we used a galvanized pipe, a galvanized base plate, & a 90 degree galvanized elbow. We simply attached the
pipes together & mounted the base plate to the door.
5. We then strung the pendant light through the pipe & through a holein the door in the baseplate & we had a light mounted to the door!6. The shelves are antique boards found at the same thrift shop as thedoor cut to size to fit the door. We mounted them to some simple metal shelf brackets on the door.
7. From here we just leaned our door shelf against the wall in thebathroom, but you could mount it to the wall or add feet for added security.
By adding baskets, towels, & a few accessories, the door fits right into our bathroom. The diy door shelf has added so much storage to our bathroom & I love the character it adds as well! This is so cool! My mum did the same with an old door and since then I am on the hunt for an old door, so I can create my own shelf! 🙂
Very cute – a picture of the back of the door would be helpful – just for reference of how the fixture looks and if you anchored down the light wire .
