I really can’t believe that it’s September already. I just can’t. That means in a few short months we will be Michiganders again & say goodbye to this lovely state of North Carolina. It means that Fall is almost here too! Fall is by far my favorite season because of the cooler weather, sweaters, lattes, pumpkin flavored everything, & the cozy decor. Of course on the first day of September I got busy & made my first DIY fall project of the season. Fall to me is about so many things, but Fall to me is filled with thankfulness & celebrating all of our blessings. Celebrating thankfulness  isn’t designated to just Thanksgiving, but let’s celebrate it all fall long. See how I made this DIY rustic fall sign to celebrate thankfulness all fall long.

Oh this sign makes my heart so happy. It’s currently on our front porch as a reminder to us daily to give thanks. & maybe it will bring a smile to passerby’s that see the sign too. I hope it is a reminder to all who see it to give thanks in that moment for all that they have. Now to show you how I made this lovely little sign.

I purchased these wood letters at walmart for about $1 something a piece & we had this large piece of wood from a furniture build for a while now. We actually didn’t even have to make any cuts to the board, but my suggestion is that you figure out what you want your sign to say, lay the letters out, & then cut the board to the size you need for your layout. I did it the opposite way & had the board size first so that determined my layout. I painted the board a solid creamy taupe color for the base of the sign. I stained all of the letters first using mahogany stain clothes & then dry brushed the letters with a creamy white color to get the rustic finish. After the board & all of the letters were dry I simply hot glued the letters to the board. For this part you can use wood glue, or any adhesive you feel comfortable with. You could also screw the letters to the board for more of a rustic industrial look.

I can’t tell you how much fun it was to bust out my paint today & get creative for fall with this sign.
