If you know me, you know I get big ideas almost daily. & as soon as I get the idea in my head it’s like I need the idea executed immediately. That’s what happened last week when I stumbled upon the cutest little Table runner at TJ Maxx. I knew I didn’t need another table runner in my collection to simply place on a table, because it looked like the other 12 that I already had. Neutral with some sort of stripe pattern. So my mind went into thinking mode.. what could I do with this lovely table runner? Make an extra long lumbar pillow! Duh. So while in that same aisle I picked up two matching dish towels because that was the smartest thing to do.. more DIY pillows!

I pictured the lumbar pillow on our king size bed & I’m in love with it! Our new master bedroom in our rental hasn’t been completed yet as far as styling & this pillow really set me in the right direction. So are you wondering how this pillow can be made? First things first, if you are not into sewing (like me) call a friend who loves sewing & have her come over for some chit chat & DIY.

Start with the table runner. This one was $6.99 from TJ Maxx. Great find!

Next we chose to use a drop cloth as the back of our pillow. So we cut the drop cloth to the size of the table runner after we had cut the tassels of the table runner. Funny story? This drop cloth was actually a curtain in our office that you can see {here} & it was too short for the window so I simply took it down & we used it for the back of the pillow. Recycling at it’s finest!

Here’s my lovely friend who loves sewing & who was kind of enough to make my pillow dreams come to life. She makes quilts & other lovely things. She’s a pro. & on this particular day she made an extra large lumbar pillow for the crazy girl (me).  She sewed the burlap & the table runner together & after she was done she turned it inside out & we stuffed it with polyfil (we would have used a body pillow, but this was far too long for a body pillow so polyfil had to do!) This pillow used two bags of polyfil. After it was stuffed she sewed up the 4th side & just like that I had an extremely large pillow that was the size of our king bed.

Didn’t she do a great job? I love this new addition to our master bedroom & soon enough I may show you the rest of the master bedroom soon, but first we need a dresser {yup, currently no dressers in the room, but we do have a big walk in closet so that helps} a rug, & some other items.
