This past weekend we spent the majority of our time outside prepping and refreshing more of our outdoor spaces. I am in the process of doing a full spring refresh on our back stoop and eventually our back patio. I love a fun and easy DIY to add the little extra and personal touch to any space, and I have been wanting to try this method of aging Terra Cotta Pots, and thought this was the perfect time to do it. These turned out so wonderful, check it out!
Materials:
- Terracotta planters, any size
- Garden Lime
- Mixing Bowl
- Paint Brush, any kind
- Optional: Clear Coat

Directions:
- Prepare a workspace by laying down newspaper, cardboard, or something that you won’t worry about dirtying
- Flip your terracotta pots upside down on your workspace
- Mix two cups of garden lime with 2 Cups of Water
- Stir Thoroughly
- With your paintbrush paint over your pots with a thick coat, this is your chance to get creative! We worked in layers to achieve the naturally aged look. But this is the part that is totally up to you.
- Apply a second or third coat if desired
I love how muted the pots are now & yet you can still tell that they are terracotta pots they now just look a little more aged and weathered. I will be trying different methods & different ways to age soon, but I have to say I love how this one turned out!
