I have pulled together 10 simple ways to decorate for Christmas. I begin decorating slowly and then add more throughout the month. I hope these simple Christmas décor tips inspire you to decorate your own home for the holidays.

1. Add a wreath or garland

Bring Christmas into any room by adding a garland or wreath to your regular décor. Garlands and wreaths are a great way to transition your staple décor pieces into the Christmas season.

2. Simple Centerpiece

Set up a simple Christmas centerpiece in your dining table. Here I used a sled that I painted white, some green jars that I already had and finished the centerpiece by adding some winter greenery. The greenery is a great way to pull in the outdoors and use resources that are free and readily available.

3. Bring Out The Santa Mugs

Collect Santa mugs like I do? Bring those out and it’s instantly Christmas. I have a bunch of different ones since I love collecting these but even a few mugs will bring Christmas into the kitchen. If you don’t have holiday mugs readily available, check your cabinets for mugs that have traditional reds or green coloring. Displaying those festive colors is a great way to spruce up your kitchen area for the holiday season.

4. Hang Your Festive Garland

Do you have any cute festive garlands? Hang those up! Whether the garland say Merry Christmas or displays festive mittens, bottle trees, or something else these garland accents are the perfect touch to any space for the holidays. If you’re looking to add depth you can hang multiple garlands in the same space like I did. Consider adding greenery elements to liven things up and bring in natural colors from the outdoors.

5. Bring Ornaments Into Your Vignettes

Add ornaments to any of your vignettes for a small touch of Christmas. I love putting ornaments in jars, cloches, bowls, or anything else on hand to display on shelves or tabletops. If you have leftover ornaments after you’ve decorated your tree(s), this is a great idea because you can still display your treasured keepsakes and these displays make great conversation starters when guests are visiting.

6. Put Out The Christmas Pillows

Quickly transform your living area into the holiday season by incorporating accent pillows. Bring out your favorite holiday pillow and add it to your current arraignment of neutral pillows for a cozy touch of Christmas. This is a fun way to add a pop of color if your seasonal Christmas pillows are colorful.

7. Repurpose Ribbon In Your Décor

One of my favorite affordable ways to quickly add Christmas to any space is adding ribbon. Any ribbon you have can be added to your garland or coffee table for a fun and festive centerpiece. Nothing has to match and there are no rules. Get creative with your placement.

8. Put Out Your Small Trees

The small trees are always easier to bring out in comparison to the large Christmas trees. Start by adding a small Christmas tree to open corners, plant stands, and tabletops. If you want to decorate them, great. If not, it’s not a big deal. The small trees are a simple way to incorporate the holidays into your space.

9. Set Up A Hot Cocoa Bar

You guys know I love a drink bar! A hot cocoa bar is one of my favorites. This is a super fun way to add Christmas décor that everyone can enjoy and is an easy way to entertain your guests. Be creative with your hot cocoa bar. Include topping options, fun mugs, to-go cups, and stirrers.

10. Simple Coffee Table Decor

I added this Letter’s To Santa box and a tinsel tree to our coffee table for a quick touch of Christmas. This could be super cute even without the ornaments. Invite your little guests to write a letter to Santa or their favorite elf. This is a simple decorating piece but could be turned into a fun activity for little guests.

Bonus: If you are craving a natural Christmas, mix in cozy textures with pillows, lighting, rugs, greenery, and Christmas trees. Add lots of wood tones to bring in warmth, and as always… don’t be scared to play around and make your Christmas décor your own version of cozy!!
