What do you do with only a few hours left before guest show up for thanksgiving dinner? A little last minute tiding up, picking a playlist, and lighting candles? I’m stringing DIY orange slices to be set on our Christmas Mantel. A few months ago, I installed wallpaper in these little squares to the left and right of the fireplace. I wanted to tie them together and this is how it turned out.

My Christmas Mantel

Along with the orange garland, I have a base layer of real cedar garland, glass and bottle trees, ribbon, a Christmas sign, and thick knit stockings. You can find more Cozy White Knits (here).

I love the texture of this mantel. From the cedar garland, to the trees, and of course the DIY Orange Garland. It really brings to life this white space between the wallpapers, it also anchors the space and bring your eye to the beautiful sign by OhSweetSkye. I’m obsessed with their signs and I love how this one fits over our mantel with that perfect green color to tie in the wallpaper to the space for the holidays. Don’t Loose your Focal Point

With nearly any mantel in a space, it is already the focal point of the room. If you are going to add decor to the sides of the mantel like we did visually with the wallpaper, ensure you build on the natural focus of the mantel, area above, and space infant of the fireplace. This will ensure it isn’t getting lost with decor or design to the left and right.

A very-very easy DIY

The DIY Orange Garland on this Christmas Mantel is super easy can be used anywhere. It can be draped around a tree, set on a mantel, stair rails, Bedroom headboard, or even a table runner. It is practically a set it and forget it type of DIY, just don’t literally forget it… haha.

DIY Orange Garland

• Cut the oranges about a quarter of an inch thick
• tap paper towel until dry to the touch
• place orange slices directly on cookie sheet or parchment paper
• Cook at 250 degrees for 2 1/12 hours
• Let cool and string with fishline
