Ok! First of all.. don’t get mad about my use of oranges in spring. I was craving a pop of color in one of my looks and these stems I found at our shop were calling my name! Within my love of home decor and interior design, I have a hobby… creating vignettes. I love creating little mini pockets of design within an overall design and could create vignettes over and over in the same space. I usually get my entire fix at my shop, The Found Cottage, where I can pull together brand new items and mix it with some unique antique finds to create a fun shopping experience within our store.

Recently I shared this blog post, How To Style a Simple Entryway, I wanted to return back to that space and show you how can add a few extra items to a space to take it from a Simple Entryway, to a uniquely collected vignette. I did two looks to show you how to update a space seasonally… check it out! For this first look I used a kitchen canister & placed those bright and sunny oranges in it as my florals for this space. I love how the oranges pop with all of those other orange leather tones in the space… & these stems just make me happy. The only regret? I wish they smelled like juicy oranges too!

I like to think of this vignette’s core based around two new items and a few vintage items that I picked up this week. The one of a kind “finds” in this space, are one of my favorite lamps I have every come across and this very well kept wicker basket. Also that Boy Scout bag that Jose spotted while out picking this past weekend… such a great find! Pairing those to find with a new faux tree or some stems and anchoring it down with this beautiful Anthropologie mirror really is the perfect formula for me in decorating mixing the old and new.

I know how easy it can be to get caught up in inspirational post and Pinterest. Areas that are meant to inspire can sometimes be so captivating you may feel the need to seek out and buy the same elements. I hope this post can show that you can go and buy a couple of new things, and pair it with some old items and some seasonal elements to have a fresh new space in any design. Maybe you already have a mirror and plant to work with or maybe you have a basket & a lamp to work with that are just lying around or somewhere styled that you are not in love with. Start with the items you already have & go from there. While I wish I could point you in a direction to find a cool vintage bag or basket and an antique lamp like the ones in this space. I can point you towards the new items I have displayed in this vignette.

The mirror is from Anthropologie. You know my obsession with gold framed mirrors. I really love the unique shield shape to this mirror, as well as the subtle display of birds at the top. Accompanied by some faux stems or a faux tree to bring the eye up and create a larger scale for the vignette. For the first look, I picked up some faux stems from my shop, The Found Cottage. I thought the hint of spring with some orange stems was a great way to splash some color around though they are usually a summer fruit.. no one is mad right? Placing them in a vase to balance the vignette while still drawing the eye up. The faux olive tree is from CB2. The tree is a great way to bring the eye up simply from its size to create that larger scale for the vignette. Olive tree’s always catch my eye as having the perfect blend of green and sophistication. Lastly, to throw a little “lived-in” vibes into the vignette I place my new favorite spring shoes from Free People. I could go on with staging spaces to look more welcoming and cozy with throws, coats, and yes-boots or shoes. Leaving them neatly staged can quickly bring life into any vignette. Such a simple light & bright spring entryway vignette that I really enjoyed playing around with today & that I hope brings tons of inspiration to you this spring season.
