Hey guys! Don’t get too scared when you read the title with the word Holiday in it already! Its not that serious trust me.So, recently Jose and I took a trip up to Mackinaw and Jose’s parents stayed at our home to watch the farm while we were out. Days ahead of our trip we went full prep mode, to make sure it was ready for people to stay here. You all know, you get a little anxious when you are having people stay over if its not something you do often… especially your mother-in-law. So we tidied up our house and got it ready for them to head over for an extended weekend. Living in a fixer-upper, all of our extra spaces aren’t always ready for guests to stay at all times & if you frequent the blog, you know I am a furniture/home decor hoarder, I mean collector, and it’s not too difficult to scour my “collection” and put a cozy extra space together for our guests. Jose told me, its a good thing you have all that stuff… which got me thinking, with the holiday’s coming up, some of you may have some overnight guests, hopefully scheduled and you are aware of, but nonetheless, planned or not, you may be looking for inexpensive ways to decorate extra spaces in your home to accommodate your guests. Here are some of my favorite items from home decor to furniture to quickly cozy up a space, without being too costly on your holiday budget. Whether it’s to organize a space quickly and affordably or to add additional furniture to accommodate your guests here are a few that I’m loving right now….

My main issue in years past is seating & having enough for our guests around the table. So, I wanted to take the time today to show you a quick and affordable way you can have enough seating for your guests this holiday season. The number one thing I do here on the farm is to have stools around always available to seat extra guests when needed. Sounds weird huh? Hear me out! I keep stools around our kitchen island so we have room to gather in the heart of the home which is pretty normal, but I also use stools around the house as plant stands or just tucked in other corners of the house that I can quickly grab when needed if extra guests show up or if I need to set more spots at our dinner table. I found some super affordable wood stools for only $17 at Walmart[here] that I gave a quick layer of paint to customize for our farmhouse & now I have tons of seating around our island and in our kitchen because guess what? I’m hosting thanksgiving dinner this year!! I’m so excited, but now that I have extra seating early I’m feeling a little more confident since we won’t have an exact head count until the week of. I love being able to welcome more people into our home knowing that everyone will have a place to sit. Also, can we talk about that Pioneer Woman dutch oven [HERE] I picked up at Walmart as well this week? I blame the late night Walmart trip on that purchase, but now I can serve a thanksgiving dish in a pretty vintage looking floral dutch oven & hopefully impress everyone. I mean, my cooking isn’t the best, but at least it will look good right?

Here were the stools before I painted them with fusion mineral paint in Lamp white. They are a steal at $17 each!!
& after the mini makeover:

As an interior designer, and simply to feed my addiction of my love for home decor, I routinely browse different store website’s to see their new seasonal launch and trend of designs. Over the years I have naturally found my favorites that I go through or have labeled in my head that fit better for certain spaces in the home, or looks I’m trying to achieve. Recently, I have added Walmart.com and their Home Decor and Furniture into that short list of retailers. You can shop by style to help get all the inspiration you need. As a home owner, designing spaces for myself, or recommending options to friends, family, and customers; affordable is always at the top of the list when it comes to key factors in their design choice, and Walmart always excels in that department. Also, Free shipping on orders over $35 – no membership required. I hope that this post today give you another outlet to buy home decor from for every room of your home. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog always and for seeing what we are up to!
Ps. I’m doing a giveaway from this post on my Instagram! Head on over to @LizMarieGalvan on Instagram [HERE] to enter! Also, I worked with Walmart on this post, all content in this blog are of my own.
I am already freaking out about the holidays. Only because it’s a major move of furniture etc to accommodate trees and decorations. At the end of the day I would still do it. It’s a lot of work and makes the house very warm and cozy and exciting. This year I’m struggling with what to do. I like it to be different and I’m looking at Pinterest, Instagram and lots of Christmas and fall magazines for decorating ideas. Hopefully I’ll know soon. Thanks for sharing these items. I need a new rug!
