So we recently made some big changes to the front of our house. You can see what I’m talking about [here]. We are still adjusting to the new layout of the front living room, but nonethless we know we don’t want to have competing areas in that space. So for this space this early fall I created a simple fall entryway that I am so excited to show you!! 

And from there is my direction…

This space has been pretty iconic for me. The backdrop of the stairs and a large piece of furniture accompanied by a gallery wall. I try not to limit my design or stay in a box, but I am drawn to that layout up there…

So for the take on it (this time)… we are going simple. Like I said, I don’t want to compete for the eyes attention with our new front doors, so simple, well my kind of simple is what I wanted to achieve. Ok, simple for me? Maybe that’s a better way to put it. A simple antique nostalgic vibe as you enter our farmhouse through the front door[s] is what my vision was. & now it’s also dressed up simply for fall. 

Okay… don’t hate me! I know you noticed something already because you are all amazing… 

I had to paint this card catalog. I’m working on a project and it absolutely needed to be painted. We choose to paint the piece, Lichen by Fusion Paint. This color fits this space so well it was destined to be that color. I’m loving the change & know that I can always strip the piece or refinish if I ever choose to… paint isn’t permanent, but not experimenting is… or something like that. I like trying new things!!

The Gallery Wall.

Oh how I love a well executed gallery wall. It’s probably my favorite thing to do… sad? No.. it’s better than a lot of other things I could be addicted to I guess haha… 

This gallery walls has some fun items we have found from all around. I use the the natural rise of the stairs to help decide placement. 

First off, I am obsessed with frameless mirrors. I have started a little collections and have scattered them around the house. I came across this beauty while I was in Waco, at Linen and Cake and knew exactly where it was going when I bought it & did it turn out (rarely happens). I have been loving the pops of wood tones from the shoe forms. Using a DIY Soda Can top screwed to the bottom, we placed those vertically and capped it off with one of the silhouettes from my collections. Two framed photos and and hand stamp plate completes the next column.

Jose’s favorite part of this look is the displayed words, Cottage, Farm, and House. With Cottage on a white street sign. He loves conspiracy theories always looking for hidden agendas or subliminal messaging. It seems pretty obvious to me, but we’ll pretend its subliminal to make him happy.

Next we have vintage antlers vertically stacked along side the cutest little medicine cabinet I have ever laid my eyes on. Tucked behind the tray and plant is a vintage framed photo. I know its kind of weird being tucked behind stuff, but its intent was to round the gallery wall off, it looks too empty without something there. Also its a great backdrop to the tray creating a lot of depth in the space.

While the gallery wall is fairly stationary. We use the top ledge of the card catalog to display our seasonal decor. Using popular fall items like pumpkins, gourds, cabbage, or other fall greens are an easy way to tie in fall into any space and that is how we decided to display it here. Right now I went with simple faux pumpkins & a few simple greens with of course a ton of cozy textures. That fall pillow in the chair is from Magnolia & is just one of the cozy pieces in this space that feels like fall is here. I love this simple cozy fall space & I hope you do as well!
