During this master bedroom makeover of ours there have been times of simply “using what we have” until we find what we really really want. That’s where dumpster diving came into play… Well, kind of. You see, we put this sofa in our room that is so cozy & a lovely place to watch tv, sit and chat on the phone, & of course nap when you don’t feel like messing up the bed. The problem was that I needed something to hang above it & that was a bigger issue than I thought it would be. So I looked & looked & looked & it ended up being a free item that someone was going to toss that won the spot…

It’s this antique mirror that a friend of mine brought into the shop to put in the free pile at our garage sale that we had & I snatched it right up. It was a little sad looking and falling apart, but I fixed it up & painted it to hang above the sofa. I used the color lichen by Fusion Mineral Paint just like I did on the doors in this space. The best part of this piece? The mirror part was already antiqued perfectly so I didn’t have to do much to it. I framed the mirror with two antique wall sconces that I found at a flea market. I have to find a sleeve for one of the candle holders, but I do love those little wall sconces! Ps. if the mirror looks a little crooked… it’s not… the floor is a little wonky [hello 1800’s farmhouse] so I need to do some leveling of the sofa, but let’s ignore that for now ok?

I’m having so much fun with this space & this mirror was a great [free] find for above the sofa. Did I have something else in mind? Yes. Am I still searching for the perfect piece? Yes! But this mirror works well for here right now, & even if I hang something else here, I think I might still find a place for this mirror because I kind of like her.
