The current IKEA shelves integrate so much better in your kitchen because they are complete white and get one with the shiplap wall. So, all the deco stuff on it it’s totally eye-catching now.
Your old “corbel shelves” look gorgeous, too but in my mind it it looked crowded and massive with this huge but gorgeous corbels.
You made a good choice now and your’re damn right that you stand very often in your own way seeing a (design) situation from a objective position to get the right satisfying solution. It’s everywhere in the world the same 😉

  2. Linda Asly says:

Oh how I loved those massive chippy corbels, but one has to do what’s best and uniform to both sides. Kirklands, has some really nice corbels online, guaranteed to have 4 matching ones, and worth a looksy. Check them out. Moving right along with your kitchen, you deserve a pat on the back. Looking great. And for the record, I do NOT work for, in any way affiliated with anyone, just love Kirklands, and noticed the new selection of corbels while shopping for some of my own 🙂

  3. Debbie says:

Love, love the shelving in your kitchen. It totally works. Have you thought of a Lacanche stove? They are a little pricey. Just a suggestion…

  4. Ava says:

    Love your kitchen liz!!
Have you thought about a smeg oven, they have some lovely ones?

  5. Tammie Price says:

Wow! Your kitchen looks so beautiful with the shelves on both sides of the window. I loved your corbel shelves, but this is well worth the change-up. I am sure you will find another amazing use and way to display those awesome, chippy, corbels!

  6. Betsy says:

I like this look much more. It’s a cleaner look that doesn’t fight with what else you have going on.

  7. froot loop says:

Your kitchen keeps getting better and better!

  8. Shanna Lawler says:

Oh my goodness! Your kitchen is beautiful. Can you believe that this time last year this image was still just a dream in your mind but here you are now and it is gorgeous? Seriously, every stage I think wow this is amazing, but then you change it and it just gets better and better. You have a unique style and gift and I am thankful that you allow us to be witnesses to it.

  9. Zieldre says:

  10. Carey says:

  11. Nancy says:

I love the new shelves. It is such a pleasure to read your blog and find inspiration for decorating my own home. I am glad that you are moving that massive piece over the window. It just seems to overwhelm all of your lovely items on the shelves and your fantastic island.

  12. Marlene Stephenson says:

Everything you touch turns to gold or at least it seems that way. I love your kitchen and you inspire this senior lady so much. Thanks and you are in my prayers.

  13. Mary says:

I love the new brackets. I’m with several above who said it looks so much more cohesive, cleaner, integrates better. AND I love corbels so don’t get me wrong, they were beautiful! It just looks better. You KNOW you will find somewhere to use those beauties and I KNOW it will be soon! The kitchen is looking great.

  14. Nancy says:

I love the shelves on either side. And here’s a funny thing, I was just contemplating how much I liked the architectural “thing” above the sink! But, it’s your kitchen snd I’m sure whatever you do, it will be perfect.

  15. Patti says:

They look clean and fresh, they let the cute items on the shelves be the star.
Im pretty sure those beautiful chippy corbels will find another home soon. ?

  16. Peggy says:

I think the Ikea brackets are a better scale for the shelves, especially with all the items you have on them. I wish I owned a store where I could bring home new stuff and take back old items. That makes refreshing your rooms so easy.

  17. joanne Kingsbury says:

Hey Liz, The change up looks amazing. I did love the corbels.. I was just in Ohio this past week end and went to a huge Antique Mall. Found some great treasures and 2 corbels. I just love corbels. And I love love love that piece over your window. I know someone that would buy it from you……ME. Everytime I shop for my home , I always go back and look at your pictures to see how you designed your space so I can kinda copy you. Just love your style. Hope you are feeling better and love to Winnie. Joanne

  18. Melanie Turner says:

Your kitchen is amazing! I love the big pediment above the window, but I’m sure it’ll look amazing when you move it too. I wish I had even just a little of your vision! The shelves look so perfect on either side of the window, good call!

  19. Melinda says:

I love it, Liz! I wondered where the beautiful corbels went too, but this makes sense. You guys gave a great eye, and you never cease to inspire me!

  20. Sandra says:

This looks so much better! I thought the corbel shelves looked too heavy and bulky for that space but didn’t want to be rude. Especially since you have so much on the shelves already. These shelves sort of blend in with the wall. I love it! Looks more clean.

  21. deb says:

Love Love Love your kitchen! Every detail is spot on and I do think the plain white shelves are the better option.

  22. Lori Hall says:

Do you still have the little Smeg fridge?

  23. Cathy says:

Love the distressed wooden or metal box with drawers on the counter. Where did you find that?

  24. Nancy Fetters says:

Liz Marie you are such an inspiration and love what you did with the shelves! They are gorgeous!

  25. Are all of your plants REAL!? I love them but how do you keep them alive! ha!
