This Easter Sunday was full of moments that had me changing my perspective. From the moment where we came home from Easter lunch to find Winnie covered in poo in her cage to the people we had Easter dinner with to the way we switched around our sunroom. You may be thinking these have nothing to do with each other… but they do, trust me. When I was cleaning Winnie up from her poo accident… I looked out the window above the kitchen sink & I saw the farm covered in sunshine & realized how lucky I was to care for all of these animals & to have that joy in my life… perspective. Before the poo incident, at lunch today, we weren’t surrounded by our family, but by very special people in our life that we call our friends. I was thinking before the lunch that it didn’t feel like Easter because we weren’t having lunch with family. But in the middle of lunch today as we were all laughing & I felt so comfortable and “at home” I realized that it was so special to be surrounded by people that I loved on Easter & it was exactly where I needed to be. Then there was the sunroom after the dinner with special friends, & the poo incident… I had a cup of coffee & had a wild idea to try a different layout in the sunroom…

The sunroom before looked a little like this….

I wanted to try flipping the sofa & the chairs around to try something new in this space & to see if it improved the flow. & guess what? I loved it… I had always felt like this layout would never work, but guys… I took 10 minutes to gain a new perspective in this room by switching some things around & it really opened my mind to looking at our house in a whole different way. I say it a lot.. but you know how it’s so much easier to design someone else’s spaces? I think it’s because we are so open to new perspectives in their spaces & in our own we can’t see beyond one perspective. This applies everywhere.. when we are open to knew perspectives in every situation of our lives everything seems easier, life is filled with more joy, & our hearts are open to receive more out of every single moment.

I like this layout for a few reasons. One- when you walk into the kitchen, this sitting area is open & welcomes everyone in instead of being closed off by the chairs. Two- You can see everyone when sitting in this area from all angles & you aren’t hidden. Three- I can fit that dresser in the back with my plants on it… I can’t wait to style it! Four – There is more space to walk around everything. That one is the big factor. Like I said, these are kind of in progress photos.. but you get the direction I’m heading.

So, that was my Easter. Tons of perspective changes & tons of wake up moments about just how beautiful life is among the brokenness, the messes, & the trials… God is in it all & it is all good. It’s funny what some simple moments can teach you if you open your eyes to look, your ears to hear, & your mind to learn. The sunroom looks like this for now. I wish I would have taken some better photos, but these were more “in process” photos before I situated all of our plants.. so excuse my plant lady mess. It’s not exactly how I want it.. I even tried different chairs in the breakfast nook by swapping some from the dining room, but it was fun to play around this afternoon & I think I might work with this for a while. The problem was that the chairs that were facing the sofa when the room was the original layout really blocked the whole room off & you bumped into them as you walked by sometimes between the island and the chairs. I wanted the space to be more functional…. so we are trying this way. I would love to hear from you & also… how would you layout this room. Here is a few quick facts to help: The sunroom is only 7ft wide, I wold love to keep a sofa and two chairs along with the breakfast nook, & the greenery must stay.
