Oh my goodness you guys this post has been a long time coming!! If you saw my post on our kitchen last week [HERE] you know that we are making tons of progress on our kitchen recently although we have a long way to go. But today I have some amazing news… We finally got our countertops in the kitchen & our lives have forever been changed. Ok, maybe I’m being dramatic, but after not having a kitchen since February & it almost being Christmas… it certainly changed our lives. We worked with Lakeside surfaces Inc.,the largest manufacturer & installer of countertops in the midwest, on this project & it was a dream from start to finish…

Let’s rewind to a few months ago when I was able to visit a Cambria studios here in Grand Rapids Michigan with Lakeside surfaces. It’s so awesome that they offer a place for customers to come and view their amazing Quartz that is made right here in America. Lakeside Surface Inc. prides themselves on being the best quartz countertop maker in the US & their confidence & quality really showed through the entire process without one hiccup from choosing our countertop to installation. We chose quartz for this house because we used it in our last home & fell in love, but visiting the Cambria studios with Lakeside Surfaces Inc. made me fall in love with it even more. From their beautiful designs to the quality that I hadn’t seen before. Honestly the studio was so gorgeous & the product was displayed so well that it made this designer’s heart so happy. One of the main things I loved was that they had massive slabs of the quartz on display in all of the finishes that they offer. I have learned over time that for countertops, flooring, & other finishes it is SO beneficial to see it on a large scale to see if you love it or not. I was very impressed & it made me feel so comfortable to know that we were getting such a great quality product for our forever home. What I loved most about the Cambria quartz was their marble collection.. as many of you already know quartz is more durable than real marble or even granite countertops, but I love the look of marble so having a marble design in quartz that looks authentic is a dream come true. I’m not a careful person so having countertops that I can’t dent, scratch, burn, or stain is an absolute must.

We chose the Torquay style quartz & love the subtle gray undertones it adds to our bright white kitchen. I wanted a classic finish that I would be happy with for years to come & the torquay is the definition of classic that goes with so many styles. After we chose the finish of quartz we wanted we had the engineers from Lakeside Surfaces come out & measure our kitchen to fit the quartz exactly to our kitchen. They use a series of lasers to measure each bend in the wall & other variables like that which I found so interesting. Installation day came very quickly after the measuring which was also a blessing because we desperately wanted our kitchen to be useable. Installation went way easier than I thought. Maybe it’s because most things with out kitchen didn’t go as planned, but it was so quick & easy. & just like that after the counters were in it was like we actually had a real kitchen & we saw the light at the end of the tunnel!

We still have a very long ways to go in our kitchen from shelving, to outlet plugs, to lighting, to toe kicks, to hardware, to appliances. BUT the countertops made a world of difference & really made our kitchen functioning again & we couldn’t be more thankful. I am so happy with our countertops & probably freaked out the installers because I wanted to cry & kept telling them that I had butterflies because they were so gorgeous. If you are located in Michigan I HIGHLY recommend using Lakeside Surfaces Inc. for all of your remodels or new builds… I wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t love them, but we will be using them for the rest of our remodel for sure!
