How exciting! I love that y’all just GO FOR THINGS!
One question… why save the palmy tree?? I’m sure there’s got to be a reason

  2. Michele says:

I’m sure it will look beautiful when it fills in but I am very surprised that you took out all of the established trees. Trees take years to grow! That blue spruce was gorgeous!

  3. Sharon James says:

I too., would have left the blue spruce. It was gorgeous!! Maybe there was a lot of dead in it we couldn’t see? I like the cleaned up look and I’m sure as the plants grow and fill in it will be equally as beautiful. The tree you left looks a little scraggly, not a fan.

  4. Amanda says:

I am in love with hydrangeas! I would like to plant one for each of my grandbabies. Can you tell me what variety you planted?

  5. Dianne Gingrich says:

Love the new curb appeal. So refreshing and clean.!

  6. Dawn McDaniels says:

Wow, that really opened things up. I didn’t realize how big your house is. Looks nice.

  7. Lily says:

Saddened to see all the established, mature planting gone. But this change will make the house truly yours. I had not realized how plain the exterior of your house actually was, with all the planting around it kind of dressing it up… But, expect that will change with time, also.

I do hope that blue spruce and heirloom rose got new homes, along with all that ground cover. It takes years to get ground cover to really fill in. Someone would have appreciated getting it given to them, I am sure.

    Looks like a new house!

  8. Velda says:

Very nice!! Love the clean look.

  9. Terri says:

I love it! Landscaping, like decorating, is a very personal choice. While the previous landscape design worked for the former owner, it’s nice to be able to bring in your favorite plants and style. Sometimes that means, removing the former and starting over. Opening the area up allows us to see the beauty and character of the house. Like the restoration you are doing inside, no doubt the outside will be equally beautiful!

  10. Deanna Rabe says:

What a gorgeous house, and now you can really see it! I adore hydrangea and boxwoods and they both will look great as they grow!

  11. Stephanie says:

    Love it. So much simpler.

  12. Rhonda says:

Your house is so much bigger than it looked before with what looks like a covered walkway in the back, I had never noticed that before. Yal have done so much in such a short time with everything, are you sure yal didn’t win the lottery lol. The house is beautiful and so is the property, I liked the old spruce tree also, but yal are such a young couple that whatever you plant tree wise you will get to admire each year, how much it grows and talk about it every season. We love working in our yard and are 1 of a few homes near us that even bothered to have planted anything when we moved in, and we are so glad we did and those people wish they had. We have been here 15 years now and were just a couple years older than yal. Choose wisely and if you decide to pant any trees think of the changing of seasons and what they can bring to the appearance of the farm during that time. I promise you won’t regret it.

  13. Jeffrey says:

    Looks Great!!

  14. Janis Johnson says:

As a gardener it breaks my heart to see what took years of loving toil and tending just torn out. You could have tried thinning it out first and giving the plants to neighbors.

  15. Heather says:

If I were you, I would have done the exact same thing. Love love love every part. I have a smaller version of my own that I did this year with Annabelle’s and boxwood. The other plants just didn’t say “farmhouse” to me. You did good!

  16. Bobbie says:

Sigh….sort of like looking at a piece of antique silver after the patina that made it so beautiful was removed.

  17. Lynne Taylor says:

I am loving it! It looks more farmhouse now and you can really appreciate the structure of your home and all those beautiful windows. I do think ya’ll did the right thing. We have had to pull up lots of ground cover here too. It just takes over and can get quite messy looking. You have a beautiful home!

  18. Donna Smith says:

Dont want to make you feel bad I love your style, and it looks wonderful But all those beautiful plants and trees From pics it looked like there was something to discover everyday and every season! I would love seeing the bee hives and the gardens.pumpkins!

  19. Nina says:

    Coming along nicely.
