If you guys have not been following me on social media [first of all if you have social media & don’t follow me I feel terrible about that] you have missed some of the biggest news to hit our little farm since we moved here a year ago. We got a newborn sheep! She’s an icelandic sheep to be exact & she came from our friend Abby’s farm….

She is going on three weeks old so when we say newborn, we mean newborn. We got her at such a young age because her mother rejected her. She was born one of a set of triplets & the mother took to the other two, but not to her. It was very sad to see, but thankfully Abby took care of her until we were able to pick her up & now she is getting bottle fed around the clock & even visits us in our farmhouse with diapers on. She follows us everywhere. Wherever we walk she is right at our feet & we never have to wonder where she is. She has been welcomed by the cats and dogs like one of their own & I truly think they all know she is a baby because they love on her like they have never loved on another creature before.

Oh her name? That was an easy one. As soon as I got her home [picture me riding down the road in my jeep with a sheep in a cardboard box in the back seat crying the whole way home] & we stepped outside the jeep and she was finally quiet and peaceful… I looked at her & said, “Welcome home Grace.” Her name just came naturally. Not only because she was such a welcomed gift who graced us with her unexpected presence, but also because she truly was a gift of joy that God has blessed our farm with. She is pure Grace. Don’t get that confused with graceful, because if you watch my Instagram stories you know that’s not true, but she is a true gift & she has forever changed our farm just in her few days of her presence. A funny fact? I called my mom & told her about the lamb & my mom asked her name. I told her that it was Grace & she had an audible gasp because that was going to be her next daughters name if they ever had another child after me. How perfect is that? It was meant to be.

She isn’t going to be small forever which is already making me really sad. She will be over 100 pounds some day with a set of horns & be living in the barn & in our pasture, so we are soaking up every minute where she can play in the yard with our dogs, be in our house for a little while every day, & that we can pick her up and snuggle her now. I might sound like a crazy sheep lady, but it was love at first sight. She will have sheep friends that are a few months older than her joining her very soon, but we needed to get her stronger & ready to be a big girl before they come & join us.
