Oh, goodness! I love hydrangeas! My Grandmama had one near the front porch that was over six feet tall. She called it a Popcorn ball bush. It had blooms bigger than my head and the blooms were a blend of pink with a purple tint, blue with a lavender tint, lavender and blue. It was a showstopper when it was in full bloom! Your pink ones are lovely. I’m also a fan of the hydrangea bushes with the green blooms.

    Hi Liz,
I also love hydrangeas. I’m in awe at their beauty. My favorite are the blue and light purple, then pink and white. They are so sweet! It’s my dream to have some bushes as well. I’m sure Grace prefers pink right? Right now I do not have any, but if I did, I would probably place them in various vases around the house. Thank you for sharing them with us!

You can influence the colors of the pink/blue variety by adjusting the pH of your soil. The flowers will be more likely to bloom pink in alkaline soil and blue in acidic soil.

Liz these photos TOOK MY BREATH AWAY!! I love white hydrangeas as well. But these pink sweeties literally steal the show and give this room the most romantic cozy vibe! It’s interesting too because I remember a couple months back when you decided to add pops of color to the house. Maybe God had a plan for these pink hydrangeas all along! 😉

  5. Gorgeous. I love hydrangeas too. They just don’t grow well in the Texas heat.

Liz I am the same with hydrangeas and I have so many. Be sure to plant Limelights. You will love them. Leave the blooms in your dough bowl and let them dry. You will like them even more and can use them in your Fall decorating.

I love hydrangeas too and have a huge limelight hydrangea bush in my yard, I have heard they are poisonous to cats and dogs so sadly, I haven’t brought them into the house. I wish I knew a way around that!

  9. Kristen says:

    Liz,
That looks absolutely gorgeous! I’m living through you since I don’t have the greenest of thumbs and my hydrangeas didn’t make it this year *sigh*. I need to know where that dough bowl is from! It’s perfection!

    Best!

Love hydrangeas! Here in the PNW they almost always turn blue after a few years in our soil. Just a heads up to anyone wanting to put them on plates that people may be eating from – they are extremely poisonous, so rinse/wash plates well before anyone eats from them in case the fluid from the stems leaked onto the plates. Also, we have to be mindful here when trimming our hydrangeas that the dogs don’t pick up and chew a stem while we are working – they can be deadly to dogs.
