Happy “Day After Thanksgiving” aka the day where everyone starts decorating for Christmas! I’m so excited! I’ve already been sharing our Christmas decor in our farmhouse for a month now, but now I’m excited that most of you will be decorating for Christmas as well. I was thinking about it a lot today & I wanted to share some tips with you today to help you get started on your Christmas decor. I wanted to break it down into super easy steps on how I get the farmhouse christmas style in our home in hopes that it could help you too. I used our last home decorated for the Holidays for reference & it was so fun looking back at what we did last year! So here are 5 tips on how to get the perfect farmhouse Christmas decor…

1. Flocked Trees.

A flocked tree is a great way to start getting that rustic farmhouse look even without adding any decorations to the tree. Add some decor to it or leave it bare, either way it looks good & brings that farmhouse Christmas vibe to the room. 2. Pops of red.

I don’t add pops of read in every single room that I decorate for Christmas, but I do enjoy adding it in some for that instant Christmas look perfect for any farmhouse style room. I choose to add the pops of red mainly in pillows, but ornaments, tree skirts, garland, & wreaths are other great places to add those little pops of red. Along with red, green is always fabulous too.. so adding pops of green or even mixing little pops of red and green together is perfection.

3. Add natural elements.

Bring nature into your holiday decor to really give the farm feel. Stick some branches in a vase or lay them on a mantel, mix in some natural garland & wreaths, bring a real tree in the living room, & so on. The beauty of bringing in natural elements into your christmas decor is that you can mix with the faux & the real. One natural element that I love using for my holiday decor is birch logs. They are beautiful & can also be used into winter decor after the holidays as well.

4. Texture.

I think I say this word in every single post, but it’s all about texture to me. Mixing cozy textures adds that cozy element of Christmas & can really make a room pop. I love mixing pillows, natural elements, wood, metals, & more to create a perfect winter decor mix in every room. For example in our living room I added lots of pillows with different textures on our sofa, a few metal & wood sleds, some birch logs, & a rusty bucket filled with natural pine. Lots of different elements that work together perfectly.

5. Vintage pieces.

You know I love vintage pieces in all of my decor & at Christmas it’s no exception. I love mixing vintage items & even vintage inspired items to my decor to really add that farmhouse Christmas style. For example vintage sleds, primitive buckets, antique ornaments, & even vintage inspired rocking horses that are new but have that vintage feel. Vintage elements always add that cozy farmhouse vibe especially at christmas so don’t forget to include those vintage items you have lying around or visit your local antique store to find some!

I loved looking back at all our Christmas photos from last year at our last house. Makes me kind of wish I had done more decorating for Christmas here at our farmhouse this year.
