Can you believe that next week it is November? Where did October go? Thankfully I started decorating for fall here at the farmhouse super early this year so that I had tons of time to enjoy it. November here at White Cottage Farm will be mostly filled with Christmas decor in hopes to inspire and share some ideas in time for everyone to start their holiday decor, but on the porch we are still in full fall mode. Recently we found this old church pew that is 10ft long & it fit on our front porch between the two front windows perfectly. I styled it with some of my favorite pillows & some pumpkins for the perfect simple end to fall…
This post is also filled with a few of my favorite small shops as well that I just can’t keep to myself. I have a confession. When I see a pillow when I’m scrolling on Instagram I have no self control. The cow pillow, produce pillow, & farmers market pillow are from one of my all time favorite pillow shops, So Vintage Chic [here]. & the grain sack pillows are from a new favorite shop of mine to get vintage looking pillows, Farmhouse On Boone [here]. I’m warning you now, you will want all of their pillows. Can you ever have enough? My answer is no. Thankfully I now have a 10ft church pew on the front porch to put the pillows on…
Another find this month has been Farmhouse Box, where that tote bag is from, & Karli sells the coolest farmhouse inspired items on Farmhousebox.com. I got a few more items from her shop that I will share later, but I’m a little obsessed with the tote because what farmhouse porch isn’t complete without a farm tote. In all seriousness, I use a tote everyday when I head to the shop so this will come in handy. she also has t-shirts & sweatshirts with the farm logo as well which I got & I’m currently loving. & last, but certainly not least, that sign that I put above the church pew is from Down Grace Lane. I plan on doing something bigger above the church pew later on, but this simple little sign fits perfectly here for now.
I’m so excited to do something with this part of our porch in the future, but for now it’s pretty simple and perfect. I hope you guys liked this little glimpse at our front porch with the new church pew & some of my favorite handmade goods. I love this! <3 Did you use chalk paint? I was lucky to find a darling 5' pew but it's brown, & I wanted to give it a lovely white distressed finish like yours! Do you think Annie Sloan Old White would be a good match, or should I go lighter with Pure White?
My two cents…..>not an expert Lauren, but I have used ASCP for 4 years and have found that depending on the wood grain/ colour and porosity, a mixing of old white> with pure white, is the coveted look for any distressed piece. I occasionally paint first with old white, then “wash over it”(adding drops of water to any formula colour) with pure white once dry then use a fine grit sandpaper to melt the two together. Have fun with it… there are no regrets with any of these colours!

Very beautiful and cozy indeed!! I could live on your porch!! Will you leave the pew on the porch throughout the winter? I have a small 5′ foot pew as well and would love to leave under my covered porch, Any thoughts on winterizing would sure be appreciated !!
