We did. We named it. We named our farm. It feels like such a big deal, but yet not at the same time. Ok.. back it up a little. Right when we moved into the farm we started thinking about what we would want to name it. We wrote down a bunch of words that we liked & that we felt resonated with the farm. I really thought we would name it after we were “up and running” like when we got our first animals or when we finally had one finished space in the house, but it just happened after we got the exterior of our house painted & one day in a casual conversation I just blurted a few words out. Jose & I just looked at each other & said “Well, I think we just named the farm.” & just like that our farm had a name. Of course before I shared the name of our farm I contacted my lovely friend Heidi from Feather & Birch to make our little farm a sign with the new name on it…

Yup. White cottage farm. I think you can probably break it down yourself & figure out why we named it that, BUT here is a little reason why… First of all white. Ok, it’s no secret. I love the color white, neutral decor, white farmhouses, white walls, marshmallows, white sandy beaches, a crisp white t-shirt.. I mean, give it all to me. & Cottage. That word has some special meaning to me. Our last house was “Cottage On Tyler” our store is “The Found Cottage” & the word has always meant a cozy escape from the rest of the world to me. & if you look up the definition of cottage you will find it says, “a dwelling forming part of a farm establishment, used by a worker.” Well, if that isn’t perfect than I don’t know what is. Our home is our getaway, our sanctuary, our cottage. & now our farm is White Cottage Farm.

As  I mentioned before my amazing friend Heidi from Feather & Birch [here] made the sign for us & we hung it in front of the house where the old centennial farm sign hung before we moved in. I plan on doing more around the sign someday, but for now, this is it! It’s so funny the yard, the house, the farm, & everything still needs our mark on it & a ton of work, but it’s becoming our cottage. A white cottage here on our farm. Can I add that this all still doesn’t feel real? It doesn’t seem real at all. I still feel like I’m in a dream. But I am SO GRATEFUL to have you guys along on this journey with us here on the farm. It means a lot to us that you guys are sharing in the highs & the lows of us re-doing our 1800’s farmhouse. So, thank you for stopping by the blog everyday & for sharing in this with us.
