Today’s update from White Cottage Farm is super quick & well… not the prettiest. The farmhouse is an absolute war zone right now.. floors are papered, windows taped up, paint buckets & ladders everywhere, & there isn’t one spot that doesn’t have a mess going on. But guess what? I’ve dreamed of this day for so long. To have a house that we could completely renovate while we lived in it… & we are right in the middle of that dream. Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t feel dreamy at all like a spa in the British Virgin Islands would, but it’s dreamy in the fact that we are doing what we love in making our house our forever home. Ok, I’ll be quiet now & just show you our front living room progress. The other day I showed you [here] that we found flooring & the original brick fireplace & today we started painting…
So here it was before…

& now with the trim primed…
See, not pretty. But it’s progress. We plan to shiplap this large living room very soon & of course get rid of that wall paper, but I will be back with photos of the entire room painted later this week because it’s going to be a dramatic before & after with just the paint. I can not wait to start decorating these spaces & making it all cozy! I have a feeling I will be decorating this entryway very soon with our without the floors being done. Next up in this space: shiplap, new doors, work on the fireplace, window treatments.. & so on. This room is a huge one to tackle, but I think the journey will be fun! WHOA!! Even with the windows covered, those spaces are looking huge–and stunning! Not that it wasn’t beautiful before with all the wood trim and built ins, but this is so much more airy and YOU!

It looks amazing! You are both working so hard to make this house your home. Love it and seeing the progress. Are you using a sprayer for the trim? Just looks like it with the prep work and paint pattern. Would make it go faster. Which primer are you using to ensure all that wood doesn’t bleed through?
