It seems like my blog is a lot of “befores” lately & I’m not mad about it. Today’s “before” is a little different as it’s a piece of furniture that Jose built for us out of another piece of furniture that was a junkin’ find that I got from a local vintage dealer. It kind of just sat in our last house unused & waiting for me to work on it & apparently it only took us moving to the farmhouse for inspiration to strike. The other day I was asking Jose to move it out of the living room where we moved everything into when we first arrived at the farmhouse before we moved it around the house. As he was walking it out I stopped him dead in his tracks & just stared at the piece for a minute & there it was… the inspiration. It needed to go from a tall card catalog to a coffee table…

The piece was kind of in shambles & needed a lot of work, so why not making something cool out of it that is useful to us? Jost explains on this blog today how he made the piece into a coffee table [here]. I can’t believe he actually made my seemingly crazy idea to life. He even laughed at me as I explained it to him, so the fact that he actually made it is a furniture miracle. So are you wondering why this is the “before”? well, it’s because I’m going to paint it eventually. I do love the green & it’s one of the reasons it caught my eye, but the sides are partially painted a different color, the back has a lot of damage, & I think I have a different vision for this piece. I struggled with showing you the “before” because I know some of you will not want me to paint it, but let’s agree to disagree & I hope that you love how it turns out! For now let’s just admire the hard work Jose did & how beautiful he made it. First this is how it looked before as we were taking the drawers out. It was missing drawers, the legs snapped off on one side, & the paint was everywhere…

& after we selected the good drawers to save & Jose restored it into a beautiful table…

I have yet to pick a color out of the coffee table, but I’m enjoying the green for now. I’m loving this coffee table in our sunroom because it’s smaller than our last one & it makes this small room feel a little bigger. I’m also loving it for obvious reasons of the hardware & the fact that my husband made it. Isn’t that stain job on the top of the coffee table amazing too?
