We all knew it would happen eventually. I was going to put holes in the wall in our new very old farmhouse. As you saw here on the blog I painted the walls & the trim in our sunroom last week & I am loving it! It is so much brighter & has given a fresh new perspective & hope to the whole farmhouse. I was thinking about it today & the reason I think I like lighter & brighter spaces, like white painted trim, is because it changes my mood. My mood is happier depending on my surroundings & it’s kind of cool when you realize those things about yourself. It makes me think that the main reason we like certain decor styles is our mood. Like our decor is our grown up “mood rings”. This is what my brain thinks about. Anyways, I wanted to give you a house update today & that is the fact that I hung some stuff on the walls. I’m not finished hanging & styling the sunroom by far, but I started so I thought I would share where my brain is going right now in this room…

& after we painted & started decorating now…

There is like ZERO wall space in our sunroom because it’s all windows & I love it. I of course wanted to do something with the little walls that I have to work with though. I came up with the plan to hang two pieces of architectural salvage above the windows on opposite sides of the room. I had these pieces lying around & for some reason they were calling my name to go in this room. On one side over the slider door I hung a peaked white architectural piece for a simple little pop of texture & interest. I have loved this piece so much & never got to hang it in the last house so I was so excited to hang it up finally.

Over the other window I started to hang a architectural shelf & had an idea to put frames on it, you know & actually put photos in them some day, but I didn’t quite get this side finished because I needed to step away & brainstorm how I actually wanted it to look. I made that large long “white frame” which is actually made out of tin today, but not sure it will actually go there, but if it does I will place things in the center of it like other frames or a sign… who knows! I also thought of hanging smaller frames in this area or another architectural find. But you know I will update you all on what I decide.

So, how about I finish up this shelf wall & figuring out the frames situation & come back & show you the final product. It’s helped me to take some photos & step back & look at it all. I hope you enjoyed this first look of us putting the first holes in the walls at the farmhouse. They are tiny little nail holes, but still monumental right?
