If you follow me on Instagram than you may have seen that I am currently painting the trim in our sunroom. It’s my first DIY project in our new farmhouse & I’m so excited! I was so excited that I didn’t even move any furniture before I got started. I will be moving the furniture tomorrow & hopefully finishing up the trim this weekend. I decided to use the new Joanna Gaines paint line, Magnolia Home, cabinet & furniture paint in true white. It’s been going really well so far & it has amazing coverage which I’m happy with. I’m hoping it holds up & looks great after two coats, more on that later when I’m done. We just moved in the house less than a week ago, & our life is still in boxes except for this room because we sit in here the most, but you know I had to get some paint out or I would go crazy. Here is what the room looked like before…
Honestly the original trim was not bad at all & would work with so many people’s decor, but we have a different vision for this farmhouse of ours, & part of that is painting the trim a fresh bright white. Here is what it looks like with the first layer on part of the room & taped off before I move the furniture tomorrow..
Ahhh the power of paint. Not even done yet & it’s still such a huge difference. I really think this trim will only need two layers with the magnolia paint which is amazing because I’m kind of lazy when it comes to painting & trim isn’t the most fun thing to paint. I love that the painted trim adds a blank slate for the beauty that is going on outside. It makes that red barn of ours pop & I’m not mad about it. I will be back when the trim in all painted here in the sunroom with a full review of the cabinet & furniture paint by kilz on our trim, & full before & after photos. I hope you all like the progress of our trim paint in this room so far because personally I’m loving it. The white definitely makes it both more traditionally country and more modern at the same time. That shade of wood is very ’80s/’90s.
I was wondering how long it would be before you broke out the white paint! Looking forward to following along to see how you like the Magnolia paint. This trim is dark with lots of grain. The first coat already looks amazing. Hoping the 2nd coat cancels out the grain altogether. 🙂
