1. Doesn’t it come apart? I have a giant antique armoire that hooks together; quite brilliant engineering.

Oh, my goodness! I have an “armoire” that is virtually identical! I’ve never seen another one like it, until now. I still have the price tag hanging inside; we bought it a store somewhere in the St. Louis area over 20 years ago, for $300. The tag reads “1906 Schoolhouse Closet”! My husband stripped the old varnish and used tung oil on the exterior. We left the interior as is, which is remarkably similar to yours, although the slats are vertical instead of horizontal. I would love to paint mine, but he won’t allow it, after all his hard work! Our home is a ranch, and we had to take out a window to get it into our bedroom!

Worked out perfectly! Where did you get the chairs in your living room?
    Thanks!

I love that you left the raw wood on the interior. The wood + paint look is one of my faves. Nice find! I prefer armoires/wardrobes over closets any day – so much more character and flexibility. When I see houses without closets I get excited about the creative storage possibilities!

    Really good info. Thanks!
