If you have been following Liz Marie Blog for a while since we have been in our Michigan house, then you know our tiny entryways has changed many times over the past year. Well, we had an unexpected change a few weeks ago that I forgot to tell you about. It’s a funny story really. So, Jose and I were out junkin’ one day & I discovered an armoire at one of my favorite local stores, R. Lucas Scott. I needed it. It was massive, but I had been looking for an armoire for our master bedroom & this one would be perfect. Did I mention it was big? The husband was beyond thrilled that we had to load it up in the trailer & hinted that I might want to hire someone to get it upstairs to our bedroom. I could tell he wasn’t kidding & I knew I wouldn’t be too much help to him so we hired movers to put it in our bedroom the next day. The movers showed up & right away I knew it wasn’t going to go well. The two guys that showed up looked very unmotivated & not much bigger than me, but I showed them the armoire & showed them where it needed to go & let them do their thing. A few minutes later I heard “Mam, I’m not sure this is going to fit up your stairs.” I knew it. After a little while more of struggling I suggested they just stop & I thanked them for trying & said goodbye. I think they could have tried a little harder, but I just saw a disaster happening & I didn’t want anyone or anything to get hurt. I was then left with a 7ft armoire sitting in my living room & no where to put it. So what did I do? I decided to replace the piece in our entryway & put it there instead. When life hands you lemons…

Another funny story? It was already painted a very lovely cream & mossy green, but when I put it in the entryway I just knew that it wasn’t going to work. I painted the entire thing with Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in farmhouse white & I wasn’t totally loving it. Wouldn’t you know that the same day Miss Mustard Seed blogged an identical armoire painted in farmhouse white BUT she painted the inlays with the color grainsack & she was thinking what I was thinking! It needed an extra pop because all white was a little boring. So, since she confirmed my thoughts, that’s what I did. I painted the inlays in Miss mustard seed milk paint in grainsack & it was so much better.

The armoire holds tons of coats, shoes, bags, & some other things because our entryway closet on the opposite wall is so small, this armoire is a lifesaver! I love being able to hide everything away for a super clean look in the tiny space that connects with our living room. I left the inside of the armoire how it was when I got it, & I don’t hate it. The mirror is not my favorite thing ever, but it’s there &  I might make some changes later, but for now it works just fine for us.

That’s our little entryway update & how it looks today. A little irritated I paid movers to bring this piece upstairs & still had to pay even though it wouldn’t work, but poor planning on my part mixed with lack of motivation really wasn’t going to get the job done I guess.
