Some of you may not like this post, but trust me.. what you are about to see was necessary for our aesthetic & the “before” photo looks better on the blog than in person. Ok, now we have that out of the way here we go. Last summer I picked this armoire up & it has sat in our storage unit since. I shared a photo of it on Instagram & the comments overwhelmingly said I better not paint it.. You know I had to! When I started our office makeover I knew I wanted a a large cupboard for the space for all my craft storage needs & I remembered I had this baby in my storage, but I knew it needed a little work to fit in with our home. Enter paint, beadboard, & wheels stage left. These things transformed this old cupboard into a perfect craft closet for all my creative junk & it’s pretty too!

Seriously.. I’m in love! This cabinet holds so much stuff from paint brushes to paint to baskets of craft supplies. If you want to see a tour of it, & how I organize it, let me know in the comments below. So here is what this piece looked like when I picked it up…

What did I do to get this look? It was really so simple! We cut two pieces of cardboard the size of the doors & used a nail gun to adhere them to the front of the doors to add texture to the piece. The wood on this cabinet is very rough & I wasn’t in love with how it looked in the front of the piece. After the beadboard was on the doors I painted the whole piece like 5 times. I’m not kidding. I couldn’t decide on a color. I finally landed on Fransiscan gray by Maison blanche & I sealed it with Maison Blanches gray wax. I love the combo because they are only off a little bit by color so it gives it a slight variation for a weathered look. After all this was done we added some wheels to the bottom of the piece to give it a little more height. We simply screwed the wheel panels that we found at our local hardware store directly to the bottom of the piece. So easy! By adding the beadboard it gave the piece of furniture a farmhouse cottage vibe & completly transformed how it looked.

I styled the top of the piece with our antique scale & some antique cubbies & drawers. I mixed in an olive bucket from Target with some greens from Michaels. On top of the cubbies I put some pots from Micahaels & filled it with some string and my vintage paint brushes. The office sign is from Painted fox [here]. The letters are from Hobby Lobby, the chairs are Ikea, the bag is H&M, & the pillows are rom Michaels. You know I always switch things up, but I’m loving how it’s looking today.
