Today I thought I would share a little of my heart & how I have been finding balance since opening up the store two months ago. I haven’t found it yet. Or have I found it & this is the balance that just doesn’t feel like balance yet? Is it my new balance? Not the shoe, but my new way of living that will feel normal and more balanced soon? Seriously it’s all a riddle. The store has been going amazing. Almost too amazing if that’s even possible. Our biggest issue is being able to keep product in the store & we are running out of room in our small store all at the same time. The store has been so busy. Every week there are countless people who take road trips to see us from all over, & I have met SO MANY amazing blog readers.. I’m so awkward that I don’t know if I say it enough, but I’m so thankful & it makes me so happy to meet you guys. The main thing we are working on now is trying to ship, & figuring out the layout & flow of the store, but it’s all coming together. So, then there is this other side of it called life which I am trying to balance with the store. I have to say it gets better each week & I have been forced into kind of having a schedule. Weird! If you have any scheduling/planner/life organizing tips please let me know because I am that girl who is a free spirit, hates having plans, loves being spontaneous, & doesn’t thrive on being organized, but this girl needs to learn how. With all of this store & life balance comes balance with my marriage too. My best friend, Jose & I have been married for going on 9 years now. We have been through long distance dating, countless deployments while being married, & many other things, but this has been another mountain to climb. We had routines, we had time together, & that we had our normal life for the past year since moving home. Well, the store in the best way possible shook that all up. We are getting new routines & a new lifestyle & really finding that balance together. There are good days & there are days that are more of a struggle because we miss each other, but it’s good to miss each other once in a while right? So, what have I done to find balance in my marriage while I try to find balance with opening the store? Enjoy every single moment together. You see when you get to spend every moment together & every day is a date day, & on the weekends you get date nights every night you tend to get in a routine & of course you enjoy ever moment, but you forget to cherish those moments. So since starting the store I make sure every moment is cherished together & even the routine things like picking up furniture turns into a date together…

The hubs and I drove out to pick up a bunch of furniture for our store, The Found Cottage, on Friday for store displays. This is a pretty normal thing for us & is usually a mundane task, but with less time together than usual we are determined to make everything an adventure. So while we were out picking up cool store displays we went on a little lunch date at a cool old mill & stopped at a lovely antique store about an hour away from our home called Another Mans Treasure if you are in Michigan. It was fun checking out another store with Jose & of course I came home with a lovely little antique chair. I fell in love with it the second I saw it. It had character, it was destructed to perfect, & I actually had the PERFECT little space for it. I usually buy things with no plans for it, but this time I planned ahead & knew it could be in this little corner of our living room. See that? I’m already getting better at planning. Go me. I love to support other local small business so buying this chair from another creative also makes my heart happy. this little corner of our living room is looking quite different these days. I added that chippy door that we had lying around, the mora clock [similar one here] was already there, a wreath from Decor Steals, & now this little chair with that pillow from Go Girl Shoppe.

This chair is just like me trying to find balance in my life since opening the store, it’s a little messy, a little imperfect, but beautiful in all it’s flaws. So, just a little update that I am still trying to find balance in all areas of my life with the new store. I didn’t want you guys to think that I had it all together. The purpose of this post? To show you my new pretty chair & to tell you that I’m not perfect, but I do love this crazy little imperfect life of ours. What do you think of my new little chair?
