Hi friends! So, you all know I love some antique antler finds. I know they aren’t everyones thing, but we won’t get into that today & if you don’t like some antlers than today’s post isn’t for you. I had this idea to line the top of our “Cottage on Tyler” sign that is in our living room above our card catalog, with some of my antique antler finds. The problem? Not all of the antler mounts I had were pretty. My solution? To make them pretty with some fabric & a little love. This is just a quick DIY that can amp up an antler mounts you have lying around & maybe it’s even a compromise between you and your husband if you can’t agree on hanging antlers up in your house. Here is my little solution to make those antlers pretty & to fit in more with our decor…

I love this little collection I have started & I love how they are looking now! They also coordinate quite nicely with the chair we just reupholstered in our living room that you can see [here]. Here is how I covered one of the antler mounts. this one was not the ugly one & I kind of liked it, but I wanted the two on the ends to match, but I didn’t damage the leather underneath in case I wanted it exposed later on…

I used leftover fabric from our chair makeover so this project was practically free because I had the antlers lying around too. Covering the antler mount is pretty simple, but just takes some patience and a good staple gun. You can also use a glue gun, but I always choose a staple gun whenever I can use it. Anyways. You will want to cover the antler mount with the fabric as shown in the photo. Then cut out along the mounted area around the antlers leaving a little slack so you can staple. At this point you can choose to staple, glue, or both. If you want to glue simply fold your edges over alongside all of your fabric and glue it on the mount. I chose to use the staple gun & I knew I would cover the edges when I was done wrapping the mount so I simply cut the fabric to the size of the mount & stapled the edges down. I then grabbed my trusty hot glue gun and folded the edges of the fabric over to cover the staples. You can also choose to cover the edges with upholstery tacks, ribbon, or anything that coordinatest with your decor & the fabric you chose for your antler mount. Did any of this make sense? Hopefully the pictures helped! It’s actually really easy & took no time at all.
